Political parties support popular initiative to demand delighting PKK as 'terrorist

On January 12, the People's Initiative for North and East Syria announced, through a statement, that it had joined the "Justice for the Kurds" campaign to remove the name of the Kurdistan Workers' Party from the "terror list".

The International Initiative for Justice for the Kurds launched the campaign on December 13 to remove the name of the PKK from the 'terror list'.  More than a thousand prominent and well-known personalities from 30 different countries participated in the campaign.

Haifa Mahmoud, representative of the Modernity and Democracy Party for Syria, spoke about this issue to our agency, and indicated that the goal of countries during the 1990s was to stand by the Turkish state for its interests, and that it included the name of the PKK on the "terror list" for this reason.

Haifa Mahmoud stated that the inclusion of the PKK's name on the "terror list" came as a result of the countries' alliance with the Turkish state. "We in the Modernity Party see that the PKK is a democratic force in the Middle East, and it supports justice, equality and women's freedom.

Haifa Mahmoud also indicated that they consider the PKK and the ideas of leader Abdullah Ocalan as platforms for a solution, and concluded her speech by saying: "We support the call of the People's Initiative for North and East Syria and join this campaign."

For his part, the co-chair of the Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party, Talal Muhammad, explained that the PKK is a revolutionary party, and said: “The struggle of the PKK in the four parts of Kurdistan is clear to the public. The political parties in Rojava and Kurdistanwide should join the campaign  'Justice for the Kurds'.

Talal Muhammad stated that they are joining the campaign, and continued, "The Kurdistan Workers' Party is working to guarantee the rights of peoples. The basis of its struggle is for the rights of peoples and Kurdistan. We call on the people and intellectuals to join in this campaign."

Talal Muhammad also added, "The Turkish state prevents the name of the PKK from being removed from the 'terror list', because it will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the political issue in Bakur Kurdistan. The Turkish state and other enemies of the Kurdish people wish to prevent the investigation of  A shared democratic life by keeping the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on the terrorist list.
