Interlocutors at the Forum “Combating ISIS Prospects and the Fate of Its Captives”: Turkey’s attacks strengthen ISIS

The Forum "The Prospects of Combating ISIS and the Fate of Its Captives", which was launched today under the auspices of the representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in the Kurdistan Region, continues today in the city of Sulaymaniyah, with the attendance of more than 150 academics, legal professionals and government participation from Baghdad, Southern Kurdistan, Rojava, Shengal and Makhmur.

According to Roj News Agency, the representative of the Rojava Center for Strategic Studies, Munther Ahmed, delivered a speech at the forum and touched upon the importance of combating and prosecuting ISIS mercenaries, and pointed out that their movements have become a danger to the world, especially after their attack on Sina’a Prison in Hasaka.

The representative of the General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Suzdar Deirk, delivered a speech in which she touched on the victories and resistance of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and said: "The people of Rojava fought to liberate the world from terrorism, and made thousands of sacrifices in order to live in dignity."

Suzdar called on all countries of the world to take their nationals from ISIS detainees in NE, Syria and prosecute them, and said: "The Syrian Democratic Forces defended the region in general, and made great sacrifices for the sake of freedom and the dignity and security of the region."

Vice co- chairmanship of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Bedran Çiya Kurd, also delivered a speech in which he explained the importance of legal recognition of the Autonomous Administration in combating terrorism and the role of the Turkish state in reviving it, and said: "Terrorism cannot be defeated through military operations only, but we need to the resistance and struggle at all levels, in order to dry up the sources of terrorism, and the neglect of some forces in this file led to the strengthening of the mercenaries' ranks after their geographical defeat and the re-activation of them again."

He called on the whole world to support the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces to reach solutions to the file of ISIS mercenaries detainees, and said: "Despite the calls of the Autonomous Administration to the whole world to prosecute ISIS detainees, it has so far not received any response from international forces, and this has created obstacles Before it and the Syrian Democratic Forces in the fight against terrorism.”

He added: "When Turkey launches attacks on the region, the activity of ISIS mercenaries’ increases, and it serves as direct support for them. That is why we called on the international community more than once to have a clear position in the face of terrorism, and Turkey supported it, which was proven by the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Autonomous Administration with evidence."

The Vice co- chairmanship of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Beran Çiya Kurd, continued, "The areas occupied by the Turkish state have become a safe haven for mercenaries, and there are many ISIS leaders in the areas occupied by Turkey, which is trying to provide them with an opportunity to launch terrorist attacks on Rojava and Iraq and the whole world.”

He added, "Today, Turkey is talking about safe areas, and trying to create a region for terrorism in these areas to protect itself, and it starts launching attacks on Autonomous Administration areas from these areas, and everyone knows the truth of the Turkish state and its agendas in the region, especially in Rojava, as it did in Afrin, Ras al-Ain/ Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî/ Tal-Abyed".

Beran Çiya Kurd explained, "The Kurdish people in Rojava and in other parts of Kurdistan are leading a democratic project. That is why Turkey and ISIS mercenaries began attacks on them, and everyone knows how this people was able to protect the region from terrorism and defeat it. The whole world owes to the Kurdish people, the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Autonomous Administration, the time has come to support them, and if ISIS succeeded in its latest attack on Sina’a Prison in Hasaka, the area would be in great danger today.”

He indicated that "what is happening today in Afrin, Serêkaniyê/ Ras al-Ain and Girê Spî/ Tal-Abyed is a demographic change led by Turkey in cooperation with mercenaries, and we in the Autonomous Administration will continue to make our calls for an end to terrorism, as well as better and real support for the Syrian Democratic Forces, and the trial of mercenaries who committed massacres against peoples." And this is through a special trial in the areas of the Autonomous Administration, or transferring them to their countries and prosecuting them.”

Beran Çiya Kurd continued, "The lack of recognition of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria grant the chance for terrorism to organize itself again, because its recognition strengthens it in all fields," calling on the international community to "lift the siege on the Autonomous Administration's areas and end ISIS, and hold the Turkish state accountable because it supports the terrorism and terrorists.
