MNK: Turkish attacks continuation to ISIS onslaught

The Assyrian Khabur Guards Council, MNK, condemned the ISIS attacks on Tal Tamr seven years ago saying that Turkish attacks on the region are continuation to the attacks carried previously by ISIS mercenary groups.

In a statement on the seventh annual anniversary of the attacks carried out by the ISIS mercenary groups on the Assyrians in the district MNK condemned the ISIS attack on the Assyrian community of Tal Tamr in western Hasaka Canton and said that the ISIS mercenaries tried to spread horror in the region and to demolish their churches and burn their villages.

The statement noted some 285 Assyrians were abducted in the early hours of 23 February 2015 as ISIS mercenary groups attacked the Tal Tamr district in the Hasaka Canton.

33 Assyrians villages on the banks of the Khabur River in the district are sparsely populated now after its residents headed towards Hasaka and Qamishlo.

MNK indicated that the campaign that was inaugurated by the ISIS mercenary groups in the past is carried on today by Turkish occupation forces that attack on daily bases the Tal Tamr region.

At the end MNK called that the crimes committed against the Assyrian villages be referred to the International Criminal Court to hold accountable those perpetrators and aiders and abettors.
