SDF's General Command meets with Deir ez-Zor Military, Civil Council, sheikhs, dignitaries

The SDF's Commander-in-Chief,  Mazloum Abdi, and the commander, Nawruz Ahmed, met at the beginning with the Deir Ezzor Military Council and the Internal Security Forces. During the meeting Mazloum Abdi talked about the most prominent challenges and pressures that the NES regions and the whole of Syria have seen, noting that the Turkish occupation still exerts pressure in an attempt to get the green light to carry out new attacks on the area.

 Abdi stressed that there is an international agreement to de-escalation in Syria, and that the Syrian Democratic Forces are committed to the de-escalation process to ensure stability in the region.  At the same time, Abdi noted that there are other attempts by the Syrian regime to destabilize the region, and this helps activate ISIS cells and increases their danger.  Abdi focused on the importance of continuing to intensify the operations of combating ISIS and its sleeper cells, which were set among new strategic priorities set for 2022.

On the other hand, Abdi called for the need to intensify anti-smuggling operations on the banks of the Euphrates and all borders, and called on the internal security forces to work actively to ensure security and peace for the people of Deir Ezzor, and said: "We will work to meet the necessary needs to raise the level of readiness of the internal security forces."

 Then the General Commander listened to the vision and proposals of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council and the Internal Security Forces, and the priorities that should be on their list of actions for the next year to protect its areas from any internal threat or external attack.

Then the General Command held a meeting with the Civil Council and the tribal sheikhs in Deir ez-Zor and strategies for the year 2022 for Deir ez-Zor, and he said: “We in the SDF and all our leadership and administrative institutions have studied our policy for the year 2022. From a military point of view, we face many challenges, namely ISIS, threats of the Turkish state and provocations by the Syrian regime, and we will work to confront all of these challenges under a military and political strategy that has been drawn up for the coming year."

 As for the administrative and service conditions, Abdi indicated that in late 2021 they launched a campaign to end corruption and this campaign will continue in the new year.

 Abdi stressed the need to improve the health and service situation in Deir Ezzor.

Abdi touched on the hydrocarbon crisis in the region and said: "we still suffer from a major crisis in fuel, so we have a decisive decision to stop the smuggling of a substance  We emphasize the need for the people of the region to manage their area.” He stressed that at the present time, there is no negotiation with the Syrian regime.

As for negotiations with the Syrian regime, Abdi said: “Any negotiation with the regime will be in the presence of representatives from the people of Deir Ezzor, Raqqa and Manbij, and all components of north and east Syria.  All the rumors circulating about the regime’s coming in the region are an attempt by it to increase its influence within the Deir ez-Zor is an attempt to destabilize the region.”

Abdi said: "We confirm that there will be a political and peaceful solution in Syria, but not as the regime wants. We have no problem to be part of the general Syrian system, but we have a privacy that we will preserve, which is the recognition of the Autonomous Administration, and acceptance of the privacy of the forces of  Democratic Syria, and there can be no prospective military solution in Syria.”

Abdi noted that in 2022, the focus will be on improving and developing administrative work in all councils in north and east Syria.

 Abdi stressed that the security situation in northern and eastern Syria compared to neighboring countries such as Iraq and areas controlled by the Syrian regime and areas of Turkish occupation inside Syria, the situation in northern and eastern Syria is the best despite all the threats that still threaten the region.

 He said, "ISIS cells are still active in some areas in Deir ez-Zor, and we must work together to control it. Here, the sheikhs of the tribes, the people, and the security and military forces must join forces together in Deir ez-Zor to achieve stability and peace for the region."

 In the same context, Abdi stressed that they have a road map with the international coalition to fight ISIS, and this requires the efforts of the people of the region to join forces with the security institutions to make the operation a success.
