Head of Arab Center for Studies: Kurdo-Arab destiny requires greater consolidation of relations

The political researcher, Muhammad Fathi al-Sharif, said that Arab-Kurdish relations are old and rooted in history, and the Arabs and Kurds have always been in one trench, with other peoples in the regions of Iraq and the Levant and some Persia and Anatolia constituted an important part of the history of the region.

He stressed that there was no enmity between these peoples throughout the previous periods, until "Turkish and Iranian" expansionism dreams began to appear.

Al-Sharif added, in a special statement to our agency, that the current situation imposes a new alliance between the Arabs and Kurds, especially "since the expansion projects of Tehran and Ankara target both, and they do not differentiate between those who speak Arabic or  Kurdish"

He pointed out that if we look at the Kurds, whether in Iraq, Syria or Iran, we will find that they face the same fate "as the Arabs bordering Iran borders, as in Ahwaz, or as in Iraqi Mosul and other cities that share their borders with Turkey".

He explained that the Arab liberation movement has always allied with Kurdish movement, and the Kurds were part of the resistance to global imperialism, and part of the response to the Israeli occupation in many confrontations.

Al-Sharif indicated that the unity of destiny and the enemy requires a greater consolidation of Arab-Kurdish relations, and it is a role that Arab and Kurdish intellectuals should play, as well as the Arab and Kurdish media.
