Mahmoud Saleh, whose origin from the village of Alichar, east of Kobani, in his seventies, talks about his acquaintance with the PKK by saying, "I was in the town of Suruj, Northern Kurdistan in 1979, when I met Comrade Adam, who asked him about his orientation, to answer me that he was "Aboji". “I told him: What does that mean? He explained to me a little about the leader Ocalan and the newly established Kurdistan Workers’ Party at the time. In fact, there were many parties, among them the Red Star and the Students. I said to myself how do you differ from these parties, he mentioned to me during his speech They are fighting for Kurdistan, this caught my attention; for the first time I see a party talking about the four parts of Kurdistan.”

'I was greatly affected by the martyrdom of the party Cadres comrades in Amed prison'

Saleh points out that he was influenced by the party, "I was greatly affected by the martyrdom of the comrades from the party cadres in Amed prison, and this made me think a lot about this party, the party's operations were against the bourgeoisie supported by the Turkish state. ".

Mahmoud Saleh added, "In the early eighties, I attended my first meeting, when the martyr Salim al-Ahmar visited us in our house in the village of Alichar. I remember at that time a number of comrades, including Comrade Halem and Comrade Ahmed Hamza. At that time, we planned to start a series of secret popular meetings to introduce the party in the villages of Kobani."

The party did not and will not fall because it represents the people.”

On the question about the other Kurdish parties compared to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, PKK, Mahmoud replied, “I worked for 42 years without stopping, in Syria there were many parties that we respected in the beginning, because they were talking about the homeland and patriotism, but they were dealing with the rich and influential; in their marginalization of other groups of society remained, and they were also narrow-minded in their demands, and not serious in the struggle, but the cadres of the PKK, and even Leader “Apo” were always present among the people, this thing made people relate to them more and made us work throughout these years with high morale and constantly.

Relying on the people to expand the struggle was the key to the party's success. The PKK grew; Because the people did not and will not fall; Because it represents the existence of a people, and it did not depend on external support and forces.”

'Our revolution is the revolution of women'

"In 1997 I met the leader Ocalan, near the village of "Baralias" in the Lebanese Bekaa Valley. We attended some of the party's military training, and after that, a large meeting was held for the party's cadres and the patriots, in which the leader talked about the situation at that time, and the tasks that fall upon us." Mahmoud Saleh says.

mind, Mahmoud Saleh replied, “Our revolution is the revolution of women. The leader Abo made women a position and a personality in Kurdistan. I always remember an event that never leaves my mind, which happened in recent years in the winter of 2014, we were a group of fighters In the eastern front of the city of Kobani in al-Sina’a neighborhood, ISIS/Daesh attacked in large numbers our point shouting “God is great” and we clashed for a short time with them, then we decided to withdraw back, as a result of the massive attack, and suddenly we heard the voices of a number of women calling “Long live Leader Abo”, he gave us that a moral motive, and we did not withdraw until we received reinforcements and the ISIS attack was confronted. It is the Kurdish woman who is armed with the thought and philosophy of the leader Ocalan, she is the Aboji woman.

It was a dream for the Kurds, to live freely on our land and among our people; manifested by the PKK into reality, the martyr Siamand, who was martyred in the eastern villages of Kobani canton, always said, “As long as I lived these free days and breathed the air of freedom, I am not fear of death.”

'I was influenced by the morals and style of the party cadres'

For his part, Khashman Shawkat, whose origin from the city of Girê Spî / Tal Abyad, became acquainted with the PKK in 1986 in the capital, Damascus.

Khashman says, "I got acquainted with PKK cadres in the capital, Damascus, in an area called Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, and also in the Rukn Al-Din area. I met Comrade Hamza and Comrade Kanaan. Until 1990, after that, I joined the Academy of the Martyr "Masoum Korkmaz" in Lebanon.

He added, "In the Lebanese Bekaa Valley, I met for the first time, the leader Abdullah Ocalan. The leader held a meeting for us and many comrades joined him. I was assigned at that time to work in the Girê Spî / Tal Abyad canton, and this is what actually happened. I conducted social work until 1993 when the leader requested that I was brought to him in 1993 in the city of Aleppo, at that time, during a meeting attended by many cadres and fighters, I assured him that I was ready to start the armed struggle. This request only provoked the anger of the leader, who told me how a man like you is married, is the only one in his family and his financial conditions are not good, that He leaves his family in this ordeal, and claims that he is fighting for the homeland. You have to take care of your family’s situation and work to teach your children the love of the homeland, for our revolution and our struggle for that, and you do not stop doing the work that I see fit for you.”

'With the thought and philosophy of the leader, we became strong-willed”

Kashman Shawkat talks about his arrest by the security branches of the Damascus government, I transferred between security branches, and I was severely tortured in its jails, in which I stayed several months, but what was courage me resistance prisons in Amed, I remembered Kamal Bir, Mohammed Khairy Dormish and Mazloum Dogan and others, our resilience was increasing, and every time I was released from prison, we used to do our work more despite the extensive spread of intelligence

On work during those years, Shawkat recounts, "I met the leader 4 times, and there was always talk about the progress of work between the community. The possibilities were insufficient, we had nothing at the time, we were working voluntarily for our country, thousands were walking in this approach without hesitation, there have always been attempts to extinguish the flame of Newroz and end our will, but with the thought and philosophy of the leader, we have become strong-willed, and in every Newroz we renew our vow and affirm our existence and struggle.

We are free-will who adopt the approach of the PKK, our principle is constant, and we will not abandon this path, we will criticize and fight anyone who deviates from this path that the leader and the martyrs drew.”

At the conclusion of his speech, regarding the party’s role in the Kurdish issue, Khashman Shawkat said, “I say it briefly; if it weren’t for the PKK, there would have been no such thing as the Kurdish issue. In Kurdistan, the regimes were fighting us in all areas of life, culturally, militarily, socially and economically, and the Kurds were in the jaws of extermination, the PKK save us from the extermination. Now, we are living freely in our land.”
