Femicides  on rise in Başûr Kirdistan… Anti-Violence Directorate reveals

 The General Directorate said in a statement that the rate of violence against women in Başûr Kurdistan increased during last September, compared to the previous two months.

 Roj News Agency quoted the statement of the General Directorate for Anti- Violence against Women, statistics for September 2021, confirming that 6 women were killed within one month, two murders in Erbil, the capital, three in Dohuk and one in Sulaymaniyah.

 The directorate reported that seven women committed suicide, three of them in Hewler, one in Dohuk, two in Sulaymaniyah and one in Soran.

 Six cases of women who set themselves on fire were also recorded, three murders in Dohuk, one in Garmian, and two cases in Soran, during the month of September.

 The General Directorate confirmed that 1,447 complaints of violence against women were registered, including 632 in Hawler, 308 in Dohuk, 322 in Sulaymaniyah, 122 in Garmian, 28 in Soran, and 62 in Raparin during the month of September only.

 According to the directorate, 66 women were subjected to sexual violence, 7 of them in Hewler, 9 in Dohuk, 4 in Sulaymaniyah and 2 in Soran.
