Turkey is responsible for violating international laws by blocking Euphrates river water

The confirmation of the co-chairmanship of the Executive Council in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Berivan Khaled and Abdel Hamid Al-Mahbash, during a joint speech delivered, on behalf of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, at the International Water Forum in North and East Syria, sponsored by the "Local Administration and Environment Body and Rojava University" Al-Furat Center for Studies, held in the city of Hasakah, north and east of Syria.

At the beginning of their conversation, the two co-chairs touched upon the water crisis that NE, Syria suffer from as a result of the Turkish occupation of blocking the water of the rivers (Tigris and Euphrates), and its mercenaries deliberately cutting off the water of Allouk Station from Hasaka.

And they said: "Everyone knows that the Syrian revolution, especially in north and east Syria, is continuing. It has achieved many gains, one of which is the Autonomous Administration that has been formed, and since 2014 and with the declaration of the Autonomous Administration and until today, the resistance and struggle continue, despite the external pressures and the obstacles and crises it faced."

They added: "We were able to overcome it, but now, NE, Syria is facing a water crisis in which Millions of people suffer from a scarcity of fresh water, as well as in their agricultural livelihood, and these crises constituted a major crisis that is still continuing in front of the world, which is silent about what Turkey is committing is a military war, as well as a water war."

The two co-chairs pointed out that Turkey is working in various ways to fight north and east Syria, and has never spared efforts to fight the Syrians. Through its military and political means, and most recently, the water war, it has displaced thousands.

They said that: "This international forum, we hope that it will come out with solutions and proposals that are useful in resolving the crisis, and we seek with all our capabilities to reach solutions through the Autonomous Administration, but the most important thing is to limit Turkey's perpetration of these crimes."

Adding, "Turkey does not abide by the agreement signed regarding the Euphrates River, and this has a significant negative impact on Syrian society, especially in NE, Syria, given its dependence for livelihood on agriculture irrigated from these rivers, and its dependence on energy through dams built on these rivers as well, not to mention the damage that will be caused to the lands, from salinity and the epidemics that will result from the drying of these rivers.”

The co-chairmanship of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Berivan Khaled and Abdel Hamid Al-Mahbash, confirmed that Turkey is using, today, the water war against the Syrian people, by cutting off the waters of the Allouk station, as well as cutting off the water of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, and that Turkey bears all legal responsibility and humanity for everything that will happen to the 5 million people living in northern and eastern Syria.

They appealed to the United Nations, the international coalition and humanitarian organizations to put pressure Turkey to curb these crimes.
