What ENKS provide in occupied Afrin to ask IDPs return

Since its occupation by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on March 18, 2018, the city has witnessed insecurity, and an increase in kidnappings and killings of people under false pretexts in order to obtain the financial ransom, in addition to the continuation of the Turkification operations and the displacement of indigenous people from their homes and their seizure from before the mercenaries.

The Kurdish Council has recently encouraged the displaced to return to Afrin through false statements denying any crimes in the occupied canton of Afrin, which witnesses crimes on a daily basis.

Observers believe that the Council seeks, through these allegations, to cover up the crimes of the Turkish state in Afrin, legitimizing the Turkish occupation and covering up the crimes committed against the people.

The deputy co-presidency of the Legislative Council in Manbij, Shahriban Jawish, told our agency: "The city of Afrin has recently witnessed an increase in kidnappings to pressure them to leave their lands."

She explained that these acts are among the characteristics of the Turkish occupation in the occupied areas, including killing, kidnapping and torture, with the aim of changing the demographics of the region, by displacing the indigenous population and housing the families of mercenaries in their homes.

The deputy co-presidency of the Legislative Council in Manbij ended her speech by saying, "We condemn the violations of the Turkish occupation in Afrin against defenseless civilians, and the international silence on the crimes of the Turkish occupation against the people in the occupied areas."

For his part, the administrator of the Al-Shahba canton’s delegation committee in Manbij, Abdul Hanan Hussein, said that “the Kurdish National Council is asking the people who were forcibly displaced by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries from Afrin to return, so what are the guarantees so that the people are asked to return?” And does the council protect the remaining population in Afrin?

He added: "We see what is happening in Afrin through the media and through our communication with the people in Afrin now. Every day there are crimes by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and if the people return to Afrin, they do not have any of the basics of life or safety for their lives."

The administrator of the Al-Shahba canton delegation committee in Manbij indicated that the Turkish occupation follows the policy of Turkification in the region and the displacement of the indigenous population and the housing of mercenary families in their homes after seizing them in the process of demographic change in the region.

Turkey, accompanied by Syrian mercenary groups affiliated with it, occupied the city of Afrin and its villages in early 2018 following an aggression it launched on January 20, and since then the city has witnessed various types of crimes against the remaining indigenous population.
