New round of exploratory talks between Egypt and Turkey next week

And it said in a statement, today, Tuesday, that in response to the invitation submitted by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Hamdi Loza, Deputy Foreign Minister, will visit Ankara on September 7 and 8, to hold the second round of exploratory talks between the two countries, which is expected to address bilateral relations between the two sides, as well as about a number of regional files.

This comes four months after the launch of the first round of Egyptian-Turkish consultations, which was held last May for the first time since 2013.

The two sides discussed several files that would establish differences and start normalizing relations. In a previous statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that the consultations would be exploratory, to determine the necessary steps that might lead to normalization of relations between the two countries at the bilateral level and in the regional context.

According to what was confirmed by two Egyptian official sources in previous statements to Al-Arabiya.net, the discussions focused on the files of bilateral relations and stopping any hostilities or targeting Egypt and its leadership from Turkish territory, as well as stopping media targeting through satellite platforms in Turkey, and respecting the rules of international law in relations between countries and good neighborliness, and that Turkey should not allow space and freedom for extremist terrorist groups operating against Egypt, as well as that Turkey should not be exposed to any Egyptian interests or threaten Egyptian and Arab national security, whether at the regional or international levels.

The talks stopped after that round due to differences over the Libya and Mediterranean file and dealing with the Brotherhood and its elements residing in Turkey.
