Attacks on Rojava, importance of Communıty Protection

 We mentioned in the first part of this file that the uprisings against genocide and occupation in Kurdistan are basically protective movements. In the second part, we will touch on the existing risks and the civil protection that came into being with the Rojava Revolution and its development based on the right to self-defense. And what should be done and how.

Symbolic meaning of Rojava for a free society

As the four parts of Kurdistan, Rojava is witnessing, today, many genocidal attacks by the Turkish occupying state.

The main reason for the violent attacks on Rojava is that it represents the area where the free Kurds will reach the top.  Although it is the smallest part of Kurdistan; Essentially, however, they have great symbolic meaning and impact; Because it proved that the struggle is based on principles, and it is effective because it exposed the people who trade in Kurdistan, and it also enabled the Kurds to gain freedom, even partially.

No society that has tasted freedom can accept surrender, or be enslaved.

 Rojava is seen as a major threat, not only to regional nation-states; but also for the world imperialist powers;  Because it proved that existence is possible on the basis of self-reliance rather than relying on absolute power. Rojava proved that religious and sectarian diversity and differences in cultures, languages and ethnicities are not a cause of conflict, but can be a resource for a democratic society.

Its relations with various forces, its internal structure of communication and its opposition dialectics do not contradict the principle of self-protection, although some circles and parties try to reverse this fact.

Being enemy agent does not win

The dependence of some Kurdish circles pushes them to attack Rojava more than the Turkish state and other dominant powers do. This is not a coincidence, because Rojava destroyed all the foundations of dependence;  It is fighting against the occupying forces on the one hand, and on the other hand it is fighting against the workers that were established in the capitals of the occupied countries.  Therefore, subordination has a major role in the intensification of the war in Kurdistan, and without seeing this reality and an effective struggle against it, freedom cannot be realized.

Therefore, the Kurdish community in the first place should develop self-protection against this puppet group. And because the enemy's reality is clear, his policy and goal are too. But the enemy agents try to leave it unprotected and then force his surrender.

What makes Rojava today more vulnerable to attack is the party that pledged its existence to this labor and works to demolish society, paving the way for surrender for enemy. This is the role he has been assigned. Otherwise, they cannot speak boldly about Kurdish in the capitals of the occupiers.

For example, they always utter words like homeland, values, language, flag, etc., which are their primary means of disguise.

Their parties and organizations are named has great Kurdish symbolics; Because without it they cannot play with social values, but there is not a single thing they can do in order to defend the homeland. They make a lot of statements; But it is known that Kurdistan needs fighters, not speakers. In Kurdistan, there is a need for unity, organization and development of self-protection, but all they ally with enemies.

Those who struggle against the sellouts are the People's Protection Units, the Women's Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces. It is no coincidence that since the early days of the revolution people have been on the line of defense. People have seen their true self-protection, and they can come forward and make their decision only under this roof.

The CPF are the mainstay of self-protection

But the self-protection did not depend only on the People’s Protection Units, the Women’s Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces, but at the same time it relied on the (community protection forces). This force is not only forced to fight on the front lines in times of war, but also relies on self-protection against corruption, espionage, sabotage and displacement. This is the mission of these forces.

Societies that protect themselves are unbeatable

In Rojava they have pursued private war more than war on the fronts, it is the most brutal war waged by the enemy against society. It follows all forms of disinformation, corruption, prostitution and so on, and it targets mainly the young people, the dynamic protection force. Corruption and immigration are among the most effective means of deportation and denial of protection.

Recently, Afrin IDPs are being seriously manipulated in the al-Shahba region. The force effectively used there is the Kurdish National Council, which was part of the mercenaries of the so-called Syrian opposition, which was on the side of the Turkish state in its occupation of Afrin. Today it seeks to push the people into the clutches of the occupation without any international guarantees. And the propaganda they are promoting here is: "You can go back, and no one will do anything to you."

The basic question is: Who gave you this guarantee? While Afrin is occupied, why are you working to direct the people towards Afrin? Where the Kurds are subjected daily to harassment, rape, torture, kidnapping and killing, and there is no protection? If your goal is really to return people to their homes freely, why not join the war that the Afrin Liberation Forces are waging for the liberation of Afrin?

Such questions can be numerous; But it is clear that those sellouts play a new role. The people of Afrin have been resisting in the most difficult conditions since 2018. They are still trying to suppress this resistance. This party relies on its role in breaking the Kurdish struggle for self-protection.

Therefore, we must not be deceived by its tricks, its true face must be exposed, people must strengthen their defense against all forms and methods of war and attacks, both at home and abroad.

In this case, the important question to answer is: How will the self-defense against internal and external attacks?

The Autonomous Administration established by the peoples of Rojava, northern and eastern Syria derives its strength to a large extent from an organized and conscious society. This strengthens its defense, whether in building a democratic system or against attacks that will occur internally and externally.

And how should this be done? Undoubtedly, the organizational model starts from the communes and extends to the councils, which are the most influential fields in the development of self-protection. The communes must be transformed into fields of awareness and regulation, a strong organizational network must be established, everyone must be a member of the commune, and no one should be left without a commune.

Communes and councils should serve as centers where social, organizational and intellectual issues are discussed, all measures taken against internal and external attacks, and arena for the bottom-up flow of democracy. The communes must also act as inspection centers. This will enhance the level of awareness of the organized community, and increase the ability to avoid risks through countermeasures.

The role of women and youth in self-protection

Another important issue in short is the leading role of women and youth in an organized society and self-protection.

Women and youth play a leading role in democracies as driving forces; These groups are the most dynamic in society in the system of self-administration as well as in the development of democracy and self-protection in the region.

Just as women and youth defended the region against attacks by ISIS and other mercenary groups, today they have the same responsibility to defend and promote democratic principles and develop self-protection against attacks.

Without the vanguard of these two, society cannot be protected. In fact, these two groups were the most targeted during the attacks on the region; Because the opposition forces saw the role of these dynamic groups in developing and maintaining the democratic approach to self-administration. So from now on women and youth must play an active role in social awareness and organization. and if necessary; They must enter each home separately and carry out awareness activities. No one should underestimate his role, nor withdraw from the struggle; Because we know that what the dominant powers fear most is a conscious and orderly society.

Conclusion

What is clear is that internal and external attacks seek to rob us of the gains we have made by making too many sacrifices. The conspirators attack not because they are wholly powerful, but because of their great fear of an organized and conscious society.

Because we organize ourselves on the basis of communes, councils, and essential protective forces; Our individual and social responsibility requires us to realize that all attacks will fail, and to define our role and tasks.

As long as we keep organizing ourselves; They will diminish and defeat and eventually. They will go down in history as defeated.
