Kongra Star in Lebanon demands recognition of Shengal's AA

The statement was read with the participation of dozens of women who raised pictures of the Shengal massacre's martyrs.

The statement condemned the massacre committed against the Yazidi people in Shengal by ISIS mercenaries on August 3, 2014.

He said, "This date is considered a black day which is an affront to the countries that claim the principles of democracy and human rights. This genocide did not target the Yazidi Kurds only, but rather targeted the existence of all Kurds to uproot their authentic historical and cultural roots."

He added: "It is our resistant Yazidi people who have resisted to protect the Kurdish language, culture and existence, despite all the exterminations they have been subjected to, which exceed 73 massacres."

The statement also denounced the involvement of a number of regional, local and international powers in this massacre.

He continued, "From the center of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, we demand justice for the Yazidi community which was subjected to massacres, thousands of women were captured, and children, youth were kidnapped to anonymous destinations, and their fate is still unknown. All of this is a tragedy that took place before the regional, international and local silence."

The statement noted, "The Yazidis' suffering continues to deepen as a result of the siege imposed on Shengal and the continuation of the Turkish occupation state's drones bombarding it in front of the international community's eyes and ears."

In conclusion, the statement demanded that the perpetrators of these crimes be sanctioned. It also called on the international community and human rights organizations to officially recognize the Autonomous Administration of Shengal within the Iraqi constitution.
