Autonomous Administration recalls martyrs of Şingal massacre

On the anniversary of the Shingal massacre at the hands of ISIS mercenaries, which coincided with the 3rd of this August, the Autonomous Administration issued a statement in which it said:

 The August 3^rd marks the seventh anniversary of the Şingal massacre, committed by the terrorist organization ISIS in 2014, with the support of Turkey, with the aim of exterminating the Yazidis, as it enslaved more than 5,000 women, and so far the fate of thousands of them is still unknown, in addition to the killing of thousands of women, children and the elderly are from the Yazidis and there are still unknown mass graves.

Despite the difficult conditions that Rojava was going through - northern and eastern Syria - our people performed their humanitarian, moral and patriotic duty towards the Yazidis in that tragedy, as the People and Women's Protection Units "YPG - YPJ" opened a humanitarian corridor, saving thousands of Yazidis.  And their exit from the areas was secured to prevent them from being subjected to the oppression and injustice of ISIS.

The massacre was unparalleled in the twenty-first century, except for similar massacres against our people in Afrin, Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ain) and Girê Spi (Tal Abyad), and Kobani at the hands of ISIS and Turkey, but so far it has not been exposed the parties that supported ISIS and contributed to the massacre will be held legally and criminally accountable.

We in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, while recalling the martyrs of the massacre, call on our people to observe five minutes of silence at ten in the morning on August 3 for the souls of the martyrs;  We also affirm that those responsible for this heinous crime must be held accountable, and we stress that the victory over ISIS on March 23, 2019 in the town of Al-Baghuz at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces is a large part of revenge for the victims who were martyred at the hands of ISIS, and we appeal to all legal organizations  And human rights and international organizations to work on considering what happened in Şingal “genocide”, and recognizing it like all the massacred  as the Armenian massacre, the Syriac massacre and the massacres that took place against the Kurds in Bakur Kurdistan, for which Turkey was directly responsible.

We also see that some suspicious movements around Şingal nowdays and the attempt to impose foreign agendas in it and conspiracy against the Yazidi component will be a sequel to the 2014 massacre and other massacres and calamities that the Yazidis have been subjected to throughout history.

 Therefore, we see the need to respect the values ​​and will of the Yazidis nd preserve their identity and ancient cultural history. We also affirm in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria that organization and self-defense is the best way to ensure that these massacres against Şingal and the Yazidis are not repeated.

All Yazidi forces and civil society institutions should also work to develop and organize their administration and self-defense to ensure the preservation of the societal and religious identity of Shingal and the Yazidis.

 In conclusion, we call for the need to respect the will of the Yazidis and affirm our support for them in this context, with the need to consider the thousands of those who died at the hands of ISIS as innocent victims who went through a genocide in which Turkey played a major role.  They themselves will be the beginning of a new genocide, like all the previous exterminations to which the Yazidis were subjected throughout history.
