Taha Khalil criticizes Security Council resolution as “politicized, unrelated to humanitarian file”

Member of the Rojava Center for Research and Strategic Studies notes that the supply of humanitarian aid through Bab al-Hawa crossing, which is controlled by Jabhat al-Nusra mercenaries, who is on the terrorist list, serves the agenda of the parties seeking to keep Syria within the scope of the crisis.

On July 9, the Security Council issued a resolution eliminating the supply of humanitarian aid into Syria through Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey, which is controlled by the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation until July 10, 2022, and keeping Bab al-Salama, Ramtha and Tal Koçer crossings closed to humanitarian aid despite Local and international claims that the latter should be opened.

Tal Koçer border crossing with Iraq is the only crossing that has been supplying the areas of North and East Syria with humanitarian aid since 2014, however, after Russia and China vetoed last July, the crossing remained was closed, as more than 5 million people in the North and East Syria face a huge human suffering.

The regions of North and East Syria, after their liberation from ISIS in 2018, have become a refuge for hundreds of thousands of displaced Syrians and Iraqi refugees, as they are home to 15 camps.

In this regard, member of the Rojava Center for Research and Strategic Studies, Taha Khalil, says, “The resolution to supply humanitarian aid through Bab al-Hawa crossing and to keep the Tel Koçer crossing closed is a politicalized decision far from humanity, and is linked to the plots against the regions of North and East Syria by many parties that are hostile to the project of Democratic Autonomous Administration, such as the government of Damascus, Russia and Iran, most notably Turkey, which seeks to strike it.

Khalil believes that the Security Council resolution has nothing to do with supporting the humanitarian file, and said: "The party that controls Bab al-Hawa crossing are the mercenaries Jabhat al-Nusra, which is on the terrorist list of many countries."

Khalil notes that sending humanitarian aid through Bab al-Hawa crossing is futile and will not benefit the people of the region and the displaced. He wondered: "Turkey's mercenaries constantly steal and loot the goods of the people of the region, so how will the aid passing through their hands reach the people!"

Khalil warns that the people of the region will be the ones who will suffer from the Security Council resolution at a time when the country is languishing under an economic crisis, especially during the current year due to the lack of rain and the destruction of the agricultural season within the regions of Syria, and the presence of hundreds of thousands of displaced people from the Syrian interior to the region, and many of the camps in which the displaced people of Afrin, Serêkaniye, and Girê Spî reside, he said: "All of these people are in dire need of support."

Khalil explains that the goal of the resolution is to strike the Autonomous Administration project, starve the region and create contradictions and strife within North and East Syria, and that it is a well-thought-out scheme linked to the conspiracies against the regions of North and East Syria to pressure them.

Khalil highlighted some of those plans, which he sees as a prelude to making a resolution, and said: "The parties that are hostile to the Autonomous Administration seek to pressure it, whether from a military point of view, by launching attacks or playing with humanitarian cards and creating conflicts and contradictions among the people of the region by launching a special war and adopting globalization to defame the Autonomous Administration and showing it in a poor manner, as well as the statements of the Syrian coalition, which legitimizes the Turkish state to occupy more of the lands of North and East Syria, he added, "All plans are interrelated; their occurrence was not a coincidence."

At the conclusion of his speech, member of the Rojava Center for Research and Strategic Studies, Taha Khalil, stressed that the decision is not in the interest of the people of the region, but is a politicized resolution that serves the agenda of the parties that seek to keep Syria within the scope of the crisis, especially the Turkish state.
