National unity guarantees Kurdish people's existence

The state of dispersion and division experienced by the Kurdish people is one of the most important factors that prevent the Kurdish people from obtaining global recognition of their existence and entity. This historical fact assures us that defending the entity present in Southern Kurdistan and ensuring security and stability can only be achieved by creating a unified Kurdish force, not by making accusations and fulfilling the demands and ambitions of the occupiers.

It is important to study history carefully to understand the current reality in Kurdistan, and thus to adopt a correct policy to prevent history from repeating itself. At the same time, the policies and positions of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK) must be addressed.

It is worth mentioning that officials in the Kurdistan Democratic Party accuse the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) of disrupting the security and stability of Southern Kurdistan.

However, every time Southern Kurdistan is attacked by the Turkish occupation army, the Guerrilla fighters do not hesitate to defend the land of Kurdistan. For example, when ISIS attacked Southern Kurdistan in 2014, the Turkish state, the Kurdistan Democratic Party's ally, was waiting for ISIS to occupy the rest of Southern Kurdistan. At that time, Masoud Barzani stated that the Turkish state did not support them in the war against ISIS, but when the Guerrilla fighters entered Southern Kurdistan and fought alongside the Peshmerga against ISIS, Masoud Barzani thanked the Guerrilla leaders who are present in Southern Kurdistan.

On the 23^rd of April of this year, the Turkish occupation army launched an extensive occupational attack against Southern Kurdistan. Many observers believe that this attack comes within the framework of demarcating the borders of the Millî Pact. This was very clear from the statements and positions of Turkish officials. In other words, the Turkish state seeks to occupy Southern Kurdistan down to the Kirkuk, Mosul and Shengal line.

But Guerrilla fighters are making a valiant resistance against these attacks and are defending Southern Kurdistan. On the other hand, the PDK and its media outlets have been accusing the PKK of causing these attacks.

Kurdish conflicts and PDK media

Instead of showing and highlighting the reality and goals of the Turkish state's attacks to the public opinion, the PDK media has provoked and incited Kurdish-Kurdish fighting. The Democratic Party's media promotes that the PKK has violated the sovereignty of Southern Kurdistan and demands its exit from Southern Kurdistan. However, observers wonder why the PKK was not demanded to exit when ISIS was attacking Southern Kurdistan, where Guerrilla fighters came to rescue Başûr (Southern Kurdistan). This is a right question that every zealous patriot must ask an answer to.

In the context of the subject, Member of the PKK Executive Committee Doran Kalkan said in a televised interview, "Why is the Turkish army here? Who brought it? Those who brought it should explain this matter and announce it to the public opinion."

On the allegations of PDK officials that the PKK does not recognize the administration of Southern Kurdistan, Doran Kalkan said, "Leader Apo and our movement have suggested that Masoud Barzani and Leyla Zana be co-chairs of the Kurdistan National Congress. They say that the PKK does not recognize us and seeks to remove us."

The PKK and intervention in Southern Kurdistan

On the allegations of PDK officials that the PKK is interfering in the internal affairs of Southern Kurdistan, writer and political analyst Hussein Omar said, "Many leaders and personalities from Southern Kurdistan have confirmed that the PKK does not intervene in the internal affairs of Southern Kurdistan, while the Democratic Party's authorities seek to drag the PKK into the war, so that Turkey can occupy other areas of Southern Kurdistan. PDK seeks to impose its authority on the rest of Southern Kurdistan or it would destroy it over everyone's heads."

Regarding the support that the PKK can provide to the administration of Southern Kurdistan, Doran Kalkan said in the same program: "Do they need money and fighters, and is there a force that threatens them...? We are ready to help them in all these respects, our force is great. Instead of asking for this from some forces, they should ask it from the PKK. If the PKK does not meet their demands, then they can accuse it. Relations with the PKK are a gain for the PDK, no one can deny that."

On the importance of Doran Kalkan's statements, writer and political analyst Hussein Omar said, "Mr. Kalkan's message was clear. Kalkan said in his letter that they did everything they could to defend Southern Kurdistan. Although there are some differences, the PKK does not want the entity of Southern Kurdistan to collapse. The PKK does not interfere in the internal affairs of Southern Kurdistan, but they should not side with the Turkish state in its war against the PKK."

Southern Kurdistan is considered a gain for all Kurdish people, and in order to preserve this gain it is necessary to follow two basic strategies:

1- Alliance and consensus of Kurdish forces, meaning that the Kurdish people must unite and be cohesive at all levels, in addition to holding a Kurdish national conference, so that Kurds do not lose again in this century.

Exiting the occupying Turkish state forces from the entire territory of Southern Kurdistan and removing all Turkish bases from within the territory of Southern Kurdistan.

Holding the Kurdish National Conference is delayed

Many politicians and observers talk about the importance of holding a Kurdish national conference, and they demand that it be held. The editor of (Politica Azad) newspaper Luqman Koldvi says on the subject, "This conference should have been held a long time ago. During the preparations for holding the national conference in 2013-2014, it was pointed out that the conference was delayed. Today, when we consider the situation in Southern Kurdistan, we see clearly the importance of the mechanism put forward by the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) to hold a national conference.

The Kurdish people should pressure the PDK to participate in the National Conference

On the possibility of holding the Kurdish National Conference at this stage, Luqman Koldvi said, "All parties without exception, even those allied with the Turkish state, must participate in the preparations to create the appropriate conditions for holding the conference. On the other hand, all segments of Kurdish society, especially the institutions of Kurdish civil society and political parties put pressure on the PDK to participate in the preparation of a national conference.

If the PDK does not realize the dangers of this project, and if it does not act to implement the two mentioned strategies, the situation in Southern Kurdistan will definitely deteriorate. The PDK believes that the withdrawal of the PKK from Southern Kurdistan will lead to a halt to the attacks of the Turkish occupying state, but the Democratic Party must know very well that the defeat of the PKK today means that the turn of the rest of the Kurdish forces will be tomorrow. Kurdish history is full of such examples.
