The Security Media Cell announced on Friday that the intelligence, after accurate information, managed to seize four Katyusha rockets with four platforms hidden in one of the orchards in Diyala Governorate, adjacent to Saladin Governorate, that were ready to target Balad Air Base.

A statement by the Security Media Cell stated that "according to accurate intelligence, the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency's detachments in the Ministry of Interior were able to seize four Katyusha rockets with four platforms hidden in one of the orchards in Zanbour area of ​​Diyala Governorate, adjacent to Saladin Governorate," according to Alsumaria.

The statement added that "the missiles were prepared to target Balad Air Base," stressing that "they were addressed by anti-explosive experts."

The base located in Saladin Governorate, which includes American contractors, was also targeted on Wednesday evening with 3 Katyusha rockets, causing no casualties. This coincided with the targeting of the Victoria Military Base at Baghdad Airport with 3 drones.

It is noteworthy that nearly 42 attacks have targeted US interests in Iraq since the beginning of 2021, especially the US embassy in Baghdad and Iraqi military bases that include Americans, and the Baghdad and Erbil Airports, as well as coalition logistical convoys, in which two foreign contractors with the coalition and an Iraqi were killed.
