​​​​​​​Foreign Relations Committee of Iraqi Parliament: Turkey's bulldozing lands is prelude to building bases

Today, the Foreign Relations Committee of the Iraqi Parliament condemned the bulldozing of agricultural lands by the Turkish occupation army, stressing that this paves the way for building Turkish bases, and it is a clear violation of sovereignty, calling on the government to take an official position on it.

Member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, Ala Talabani, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Land and orchards levelling by Turkey has both political and environmental aspects, and on both sides is a violation of the constitution and treaties, paying not respect for good neighborliness," noting that "tons of timber cut down in illegal ways will affect the environment in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq."

She pointed out that "eyewitnesses confirmed that the tons of logs that are cut are taken to Turkey by trucks, and this is a clear violation of sovereignty," noting that "information indicates that it is the beginning of building Turkish military bases."

It considered the Turkish practices a violation of "sovereignty," noting that "the bulldozing of forests and orchards is considered a humanitarian crime."

Ala Talabani called upon "the Federal Government to take an official position," stressing that "its committee will issue a statement and a position on that."
