Parliamentary delegation from Iraq, Başûr Kurdistan heads to Metina

A joint delegation from the Iraqi Parliament and the Kurdistan Region headed to Behdinan area to investigate the recent events, especially the Metina incident, in which five Peshmerga troops were killed.

On the fifth of June, coinciding with the Turkish occupation army's continuing its occupational attacks on Başûr Kurdistan (Southern Kurdistan), gunmen from the Kurdistan Democratic Party attacked a Guerrilla's camp in Metina area, and before any fighting would have begun, an armored vehicle of the Peshmerga had exploded.

According to the wounded Peshmerga, their armored vehicle was targeted from the air. As a result, the People's Defense Forces demanded, through a statement, the formation of an independent body to investigate the incident.

Accordingly, today, a joint delegation comprising members of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi Parliament and the Kurdistan Region of Başûr headed to the area.

In this context, Shakhwan Raouf, Member of the Change Bloc in the Başûr Parliament, who is a member of the delegation, told Rojnews, "The delegation represents the Iraqi Parliament and the Kurdistan Region, and it also includes representatives of the relevant blocs and committees."

Raouf explained that they will go today "to Zaxo, Şaraniş, Batofa, and tomorrow to Amediya." He added, "We want to see the sites of recent events, especially the location where the Peshmerga martyred, and after the end of our visit we will prepare a joint report on its results."
