The Iraqi journalist, Maan Habib, posted on his Twitter account photos and videos showing the Turkish occupation forces conducting organized bulldozing operations in the mountainous areas in Duhok Governorate. The journalist added that "Turkish companies cut trees and sell them in Turkey."

The journalist added, quoting an Iraqi researcher: "I contacted some Turkish researchers regarding the issue of cutting down trees, and they assured me that what is happening is in coordination with leaders in the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and in cooperation with Turkish timber companies in Şernax."

Wadah al-Shabi, one of the pioneers of virtual networking sites on Twitter commented: "Turkey not simply made Iraqi people thirsty and not only violated Iraq's borders alongside incursions into Iraqi territories, now, it is cutting down Iraqi forest trees and transporting them to Turkey."

As for Imad Simo, he wrote: "Iraqi Kurdistan was plundered from all aspects. The invading Turkish forces, under the pretext of combating PKK, cut down thousands of perennial pine trees, which are among the natural wealth of Iraqi Kurdistan, stole them and transferred them to Turkey."

An Iraqi activist wrote: "Turkey is militarily invading the north, economically dominating Iraq and playing a sabotage role by cutting down the trees of the Iraqi mountains."

Iraqi tweeters criticized Peshmerga forces whose mission is supposed to protect Iraqi lands from sabotage and occupation. A tweeter said: "The Millî Pact is the map on which Erdogan relies in his expansionist ambitions, whether in Iraq or Syria. The Turkish occupation army is carrying out these practices in northern Iraq amid the silence of Kaka Masoud Barzani and the lack of any reaction by Peshmerga forces."

In addition, bloggers widely circulated the hashtag, "Turkey occupies Kurdistan," stressing that Turkey has not abandoned the "Millî Pact."

Erdogan is planning to control the territory of Kurdistan by 2023 (the end of the Lausanne Agreement deadline), so he is launching attacks on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and establishing military bases there and near Mosul (Bashiqa Base).

He pointed out that the Turkish occupation army had established permanent military bases in the region, and continued, "Military bases have been established on the hills of Duhok and Zaxo. These are not temporary bases, and everyone knows this."

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Shantop, previously said, "The Millî Pact is our homeland's goal, we are obligated to defend its borders, and we are still loyal to the goal and spirit of the national oath that was announced 101 years ago."
