Kurdish Politicians: Attack on Medya aims to end Kurdish presence

Kurdish politicians have stated that Turkey's continuous targeting of legitimate defense zones is an attempt to end the Kurdish entity and project, pointing to the need for the governments of Baghdad and Hewler to take strict positions regarding Turkey's violations within the geography of Iraq and Kurdistan Region.

The Turkish occupation army launched a massive ground and air offensive on April 24^th on the areas of Zap, Avashin and Metina in Başûr Kurdistan, in conjunction with the anniversary of the Armenian massacres committed by the Ottoman Empire against the Armenians in 1915.

The secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria, Nasreddin Ibrahim, commented on the attack, saying: "The Turkish authorities continue to launch their attacks on Zap and Afashin areas under the pretext of the presence of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) fighters in areas within Başûr Kurdistan, exploiting the agreements concluded between them and the Iraqi government."

'Targeting the Kurdish entity and project'

Nasreddin Ibrahim indicated that Turkey aims to destabilize the security and stability of Başûr Kurdistan by targeting vital areas that represent points of contact and vital supply in the Kurdistan geography.

He stressed: "Turkey's basic intentions in targeting the legitimate defense zones in Başûr Kurdistan are to target the project, nationalism and the Kurdish entity wherever it is."

'Resolving Kurdish disputes'

Ibrahim called on the Kurdish forces to seek to resolve the outstanding differences between them through dialogue and to reach strategic agreements, especially between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Kurdistan Workers Party, in order to miss the opportunity for the Turkish state to pursue its policies against the Kurds.

He continued: "It is appropriate for this agreement to be achieved through a Kurdish national conference, through which the mechanism for coordination and national solidarity between the parts of Kurdistan and its political forces is defined, taking into account the specificity of each part."

'Repeation of the bloody Ottoman approach'

At the end of his speech, Nasreddin Ibrahim noted that the date of the attack launched by the Turkish occupation on the areas of Zap and Avashin was not a coincidence, but coincided with the anniversary of the Armenian massacres.

He said, "This indicates that the Turkish state seeks to repeat the genocide that was committed against the Armenians, Syrians and Assyrians, causing their displacement from their areas, and against the Kurds, as the aggressive attack on the Zap and Afashin areas is the best proof of that."

He concluded by saying: "Their choice of the wolf slogan is nothing but evidence of adopting the approach of invasion, killing and extermination against all peoples of the world, which is a bloody and aggressive approach."

For his part, General Secretary of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Left Party, Saleh Kedo, indicated that Turkey's attacks are still continuing against the Kurds and that the policy led by Erdogan is to end the Kurdish presence and gains without regarding their party or political affiliations.

He added, "Turkey is well aware that the defeat of the PKK is tantamount to defeating 40 million Kurds."

He stressed that the occupation will be defeated just as it was defeated at the hands of the Guerrilla fighters during the battle of Gara, stressing that the goal of the Turkish occupation state to tighten the screws on the Kurds will not be achieved, thanks to the determination and resistance of the Kurds.

'The silence of the Baghdad governments and Hewler breaks the dignity'

Kedo criticized the silence of the governments of Iraq and Başûr Kurdistan regarding the attacks, and said: "Their silence will reflect negatively on civilians in Iraq and Kurdistan Region with all its components, and it is considered a violation of the dignity of the Iraqi government as a sovereign and independent country, after it has become a scene for Turkish aircrafts and its military bases."

Kedo called on the two governments to break the silence and highlight positions condemning the violations of the Turkish occupation within the geography of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in international forums.

Kedo wondered: "Do the two governments accept that part of the Kurdistan Region be occupied by Turkey, and that the latter continue to destroy the villages of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, endangering the lives of thousands of civilians, until they end up choosing to displace?"

Kedo stressed the need to take a national Kurdish stand throughout Kurdistan and the world regarding Turkey's attacks and its policy based on ending the Kurdish presence and its gains, calling on the international community to take positions regarding Turkey's continuing violations against the Kurds and its barbaric targeting of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement.

A massage to Joe Biden''

Kedo pointed out that Turkey deliberately launched an attack on the legitimate defense zones on April 24^th, which marks the anniversary of the Armenian genocide committed by the vanished Ottoman Empire against Armenians, and said: "Turkey's attack was a message addressed to America after the official recognition of US President Joe Biden of the Armenian genocide, in which it affirms that it will not change its approaches and policies."

Kedo considered Turkey's barbaric attacks against the Kurds a repeation of the old scenario of the Armenian massacres, stressing the need for America and the international community to take a stance and put an end to Turkey's violations.
