Showing support to Libya, European countries reopen embassies

In the context of the diplomatic movement towards Libya, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, received the Prime Minister of Malta Robert Abela on Monday, and their talks dealt with bilateral relations, the opening of the Maltese embassy in Tripoli and activating of the agreements concluded between the two countries.

After the talks, Abela announced reopening the Valletta embassy and resuming flights with Libya in the coming days." "We will reopen our embassy and consulate in Libya in the coming days to be an important bridge for communication with the Libyans, in addition to resuming flights in the coming days," the Maltese Prime Minister said in a joint press conference with his Libyan counterpart. In turn, Dabaiba affirmed that his country is looking forward to increasing cooperation between the two countries at all levels.

During his visit to Libya on Sunday, European Council President Charles Michel declared, "the European Union actively supports the national reconciliation process."

France reopened its embassy in Tripoli last week, seven years after it was closed.

The Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Sunday praised the "smooth exchange of power" in Libya, stressing that his country is fully prepared to help Libya if requested to do so.

He added, "Algeria has been absent from the Libyan scene for 10 years, we are ready to help our Libyan siblings, and if they need our help, we are here to fulfill their requests.”
