Turkey violated international law by sentencing Çîçek Kobanê to life imprisonment

Member of the Public Prosecution Authority in the Euphrates region stated that the Turkish state violated the charter of international laws and violated them by sentencing Çîçek Kobanê to "life imprisonment", stressing that Turkey must be held accountable for violating the laws and returning Çîçek Kobanê to Syria.

Turkish authorities sentenced Çîçek Kobanê, fighter, who was captured by the occupation mercenaries, after she was injured during the Turkish occupation army's attack in 2019 on the village of al-Mushayrafa of Ain Issa, to "life imprisonment" during the last session, two weeks ago.

Commenting on it, member of the Public Prosecution Authority in the Euphrates region, Nineveh Saleh, told ANHA agency: “According to international laws, the Turkish state has no right to prosecute Çîçek Kobanê and issuance any judgment against her, she holds the Syrian nationality, was captured by mercenaries as a civilian and handed over to the Turkish authorities, and most importantly, she did not fight the Turkish state or commit any mistake threatening Turkey's security. "

Nineveh indicated that the Turkish state violated the charter of international laws, with the trial of Çîçek Kobanê, and the issuance of a life sentence against it, amidst prevailing international silence.

Nineveh stressed that Turkey must be held accountable for violating international laws, the sentence issued against Çîçek Kobanê should be stopped, and her return to Syria, indicating that "if it is to be held accountable, it must be held accountable in Syria and not in Turkey."

According to several reports issued by Human Rights Organizations, Syrians are transferred to Turkish territory, to appear before its courts without committing any crime on its territory or against its citizens or damaging their property, and applying the laws of the Turkish state against them.

According to Article 49 of the Fourth Convention, the four Geneva Conventions and their Protocols of 1949 prohibit the occupying power from the individual or collective forcible transfer of protected persons.

The Turkish authorities continue to violate international law, according to the Violations Documentation Center, as the number of Syrians who have been transferred for trial within its territory and in its courts has exceeded 140 Syrians amid international silence.
