On the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day, the Union of Syrian Yazidis issued today a statement, in which it congratulated the occasion on all women in the world, and added, "As a Yazidi community, we are proud that we have preserved the importance of the role of women in our society thanks to the teachings of the Yazidi religion emanating from the mother nature."

The text of the statement read:

“The world celebrates Women's Day on the eighth of March of every year, in recognition of the very important role of women in human life, and in recognition of the injustice and persecution that they have been and are still subjected to at the hands of the male mentality in various societies, which helps shed light again every year on women's issues. It contributes to the development of human awareness and mechanisms for defending women in various fields of life.

The oppression of the women and deprivation of their natural rights to choose their lifestyle, quality of life and their ambitions is no longer acceptable, and contradicts human nature, which began with a pivotal role for women, but this began to diminish and women lost their role with the passage of time due to male domination, until women became treated as a commodity or part from a man's inheritance.

The statement added, "On this occasion, we as a Yazidi people are proud that we have preserved the importance of the role of women in our society thanks to the teachings of the Yazidi religion emanating from the mother nature, and women have played in our society and are still all the roles available to men, despite the difficulties that our society faced from the outside environment and caused a negative impact, as habits are extraneous and do not belong to the authenticity of our society in any connection, they harm men as well as women, and they must be eliminated as quickly as possible.

The statement concluded, "In the name of the Union of Syrian Yazidis, we congratulate all the women of the earth on March 8th," International Women's Day, "and we specifically mention the Kurdish woman who presents the finest humanitarian model in the world by participating in the struggle of our people to get their just rights. The role of Kurdish women has exceeded that to the point of defending all humanity against the most powerful forces of global terrorism (ISIS/ Daesh). The Women Protection Units YPJ and YJŠ were the source of pride for all free people in the world, as they, with their great sacrifices and great will, were able to organize themselves and play the appropriate pioneering role for women and the crossing on the truth about social justice for our people.
