On the International Women's Day, the Women’s Council in NE Syria issued a written statement, which said:

8th of March is celebrated as a day of peace, freedom and equality. This day is mixed with the blood of thousands of struggling women. More than 170 years ago, women workers in New York stood in the face of persecution and violence to demand equality with men in wages and work hours to culminate their struggle after decades of commemorating this day as a women's Day. The women's struggle legacy has brought us to the stage of describing the twenty-first century as the century of women. On this occasion, we recall the tremendous sacrifices made of women throughout history worldwide.

At a time, women carry a flower and bread in a call to peace and good, they were targeted. The Syrian women of all stripes have proven that they are the best example of the militant and resistant. The war has burdened her, in terms of tragedies and woes of murder, kidnapping, rape, displacement. She was the owner of the greatest part it regardless of the sources of oppression and tyranny.

What is women undergoing in the occupied areas of Syria, especially in Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê at the hands of the Turkish occupation forces and their mercenaries, war crimes against humanity, but they have not detracted from the determination of women's will and her gains thanks to the struggle of women in NE Syria, its resistance and back-to-back successes in various fields against all dark and reactionary forces.

We are in the Women’s Council in North and East Syria as we congratulate ourselves and all the women of the world on this day. We call on continuing the struggle to protect these gains, prevent violence, exclusion and undermine women's will. We reject all aspects of injustice and persecution, and we will move forward towards achieving freedom and making peace. We also call on the international community to stop the Turkish tyranny and its flagrant violation of all international covenants and human values against women, and call for a solution to the ten-year-old Syrian crisis and an end to the suffering of women and the Syrian people.
