and Syria in particular on this occasion, while recalling the martyrs who sacrificed for the sake of women's freedom and rights, and revealing the Council's activities during March.

On 8th of March, the Party's Women Council made a statement at the party’s headquarters at the old Al-Raqqa Bridge and revealed its plans during March.

The statement was read by the member of the Women's Council of the Future Syria Party, Ghalia Al-Jajwan, which reads:

"We congratulate women of the world general and Syria in particular on the International Women's Day, which falls on March 8th. First of all, we recall all the vanguard martyrs who left their mark on the pages of the history of the struggle for freedom of the martyr Hevrin Khalaf, Nadia Khashan and the martyrs of freedom. We also salute all the pioneering women on their path."  

The statement added: "In this historical stage, motivated by spirit of women's resistance, we welcome the 8th of March. Women's resistance has never been easy. Rather, it has been facing all kinds of violence, oppression and slavery by the patriarchal mentality and capitalism to undermine its will and being."

The statement noted: "March 8th goes back to the aftermath of protests by women in 1857 to demand playing their historical role and rights. The struggle of women continues on all levels to gain freedom, equality and justice and stand against all violations against her. From these protests, the spark of the 8th of March turned into a women's uprising to announce her struggle against all forms of violence and deprivation."

The statement indicated: "The sacrifices of women for the sake of humanity to create a bright life full of the colors of freedom, and the women's revolution that extended from NE Syria, spread to all parts of Syria, was a model to be followed internationally as it made a quantum leap at all levels."

The statement affirmed: “The resistance continues in the face of the Turkish occupation and the patriarchal mentality against women in the occupied areas, such as Afrin, Girê Spî, Serêkaniyê, Idlib, inhuman violations represented in murder, rape, kidnapping, trafficking and genocide, despite all the obstacles, women are still fighting for her freedom. "

It added: “We believe that struggle is the only way to freedom and preserve gains. We will seek, through women unity, to organize their ranks throughout the Syrian geography, and for them to be the best representative in the political process to solve the Syrian crisis.”  

The statement pointed out: "Based on this, we announce the start of our campaign to welcome International Women's Day, which kicks off on March 1 to March 31 as follows:

On (2-3-4), holding meetings for affiliates of the Future Syria Party in Al-Hasaka, Qamishlo, Aleppo, Afrin, Al-Shahba, and visiting and honoring the war-wounded and elderly women who have a prominent role in life, and afforesting the village of women.

On 5-6-7 seminars on the importance of International Women's Day and the role of the interim tasks for Syrian women in each of the Women’s Council in Idlib, Euphrates region, Central Region, celebrating the 8th of March on 10-11-12, holding lectures and presenting cultural presentations about the importance of the Day for the Women’s Council in Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and visiting female fighters on the front lines.

The statement continued: “On March 13, mass meetings were held in the sub-districts, on March 14, a women's march in Raqqa, from March 15 to March 18. Seminars were held to expose the practices of the Turkish occupation in the Afrin area, on 19 and 20, sessions will be held for discussing role of women in the Syrian crisis, on the 21st going out to Newroz Day celebrations, from the 22nd to the 27th, a workshop for the political and economic empowerment of women. On the 30 a political discourse forum to conclude the activities of the March 8th campaign.
