Thousands of people in the Shengal Province are awaiting for the arrival of remains of 104 Yazidis of the Koço Massacre in Shengal to be buried in the village cemetery.

SHENGAL

On August 3rd, 2014, the Shengal Province was inflicted with savage onslaught by the ISIS mercenaries, that was resulted in the murder of thousands of Yazidis and the abduction of at least 5000 mostly women, as 2896 are still unaccounted for, according to some civil records. 

Koço village that lies to the south of Shengal, is one many undergone barbaric massacres at the hands of the ISIS mercenaries, after the village was encircled for some 12 days, and rejection by the villagers to convert to Islam, women and girls were kidnapped, the elderly and men were killed and buried in mass graves in the village.

In Koço, up to date, 18 mass graves were found in which remains of 407 Yazidis were found, as 900 persons were abducted, of which 663 returned home and 140 other remain missing.

Today, after six years, 104 bodies were identified with the assistance of some Governmental and international teams.
