Gedo: any Shengal onslaught flaws Iraq and KRG sovereignty

Saled Gedo has made clear that any Turkish onslaught against Shengal if carried out by the Turkish State would be a crack to the sovereignty of the Iraqi State as well as of Southern Kurdistan saying:'' let the Turkish State be well aware that if Derik attacked people in the region won't be just spectators and preserve silence''.

On January 23^rd, after a visit paid to Baghdad and Hewler by Hulusi Akar, Turkish Defence Minister, it was stated by Turkish President Receb Tayyib Erdoigan in a press conference replying to a question posed by a journalist on a probable Turkish onslaught against Shengal, he said '' we can suddenly one night, I have my word, this is the whole issue''.

In addition to that, well informed sources told ANHA that the Turkish State put on the agenda to carry out an attack against Derik in Rojava Kurdistan and Shengal in Southern Kurdistan.

On this, Saleh Gedo, secretary of the Syrian Democratic Left Party, :'' it is clear that Erdogan has put all his efforts to destroy the Kurdish people, wherever Kurds exist they are targeted by Turkey''.

Gedo made clear that the purpose of the Turkish Occupation State from sending delegations to Iraq and Hewler is to receive support in the framework of carrying out an attack on Shengal and Derik, and that '' the intended result by the Turkish delegation was not concluded neither in Baghdad nor in Hewler, for the Iraqi State well knows that Turkey is an occupation one''.

Gedo said that statements made by Turkey is to known the reaction of the regional and global powers, and to placate present powers in the region just to receive support, saying:'' the attack on Shengal is not ruled out, in the sense that they can do that, without the okay of Iraq Erdogan will not attack Shengal, if done by Iraq it wound be a grave mistake''.

''Turkey threatens Shengal under the pretext of presence by the PKK but the real aim is to destroy the Kurd's gains'', Gedo said.

''Erdogan perpetrates breaches against the Kurdish people, we ought to be vigilant and defiant'', he said.

''Derik lies on the border, it is a strategic one and economically merited, if attacked that would entail a mass catastrophe, for that will not be inclusive to Derik, rather will cover the whole border between Turkey and Rojava Kurdistan from Afrin to Derik''.

''people ought to support Peoples' Protection Units, Women's Protection Units and SDF in repellence to the Turkish Occupation State defiantly'', he concluded.
