Arab notables from Şengal: YBŞ is our strength, we will resist Turkish occupation

Having been asked about the visit of Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar to Iraq, Erdogan stated from Istanbul openly threatening to launch an attack on the Şengal district in Başûr, "southern Kurdistan," and said, "We may come by surprise one night," referring to his intention to carry out hostile attacks on the province.

These statements created a state of popular and official discontent, rejecting the threats, as Arab notables from Şengal called on Turkey to respect the sovereignty of Iraq.

The Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party had also denounced these threats, and confirmed in a statement, dated January 25, that Şengal was not for sale and political bargaining, and called for resistance in the face of any attack.

Hazza Mohi al-Deeb, head of the Um al-Dhiban village council, indicated that they denounce the Turkish threat, and said, “Turkey is the one who brought ISIS and brought it into Syria and Iraq.

'We are Iraqis and will not accept Turkey's interference in our affairs'

Al-Deeb continued, "We are Iraqis, and we will not accept Turkey's interference in our affairs, and we are with our Iraqi forces, including the Şengal Resistance Units (YBŞ)."

While the head of the village council confirmed their adherence to the resistance, "whatever Turkish forces enter, we will fight them."

For his part, Madghal Ahmed, a village notable, added, "We will not accept the Turkish aggression. The situation in our region is stable. Turkey should not come here."

He also said, "The Şengal Resistance Units are joint Iraqi forces, and are present everywhere in Şengal," and he continued: They are our sons and our strength.

While announcing his rejection of the Turkish project that it is trying to implement in Iraq, and the incursion into Iraqi lands, "We are against the Turkish project in Iraq."
