The office of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the statements made yesterday by the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Aviv Kochavi, regarding drawing up new plans to confront Iran's nuclear program are "of no value."

The director of the Iranian president’s office stressed that these statements come within the framework of the psychological warfare run by Israel, adding that Iran “will not hesitate to defend its national security in the face of any threat.”

The Iranian statements came after fiery statements from the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Aviv Kochavi, on Tuesday, in which he confirmed that "his country's army renews the plans for operations drawn up to confront Iran, and that the return of the United States to the Iranian nuclear agreement concluded in 2015 will be (a mistake)."

"Returning to the nuclear agreement signed in 2015, even if it was a similar agreement after many improvements, is bad and wrong from an operational and strategic point of view," Lieutenant General Kohavi said in a speech to the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University.

"In light of this basic analysis, I directed the Israel Defense Forces to prepare a set of operational plans in addition to what we already have," Kochavi continued.

He added: "Deciding on implementation will of course be up to the political leadership, but those plans must be on the table."
