On Tuesday, Arab press focused on on the possibility of an Israeli-Iranian war, in addition to the Libyan issue.

'Russian warning of a possible Israeli-Iranian confrontation in Syria'

The beginning is with the Syrian issue, and in this context, Al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper said: “Russian media outlets published reports based on Israeli data suggesting the possibility of a confrontation between Israel and Iranian forces in southern Syria, and warned that the two sides might use high-precision weapons, after the availability of data on the efforts Factions loyal to Iran to obtain guided missiles. "

The Russian newspaper, "Nezavisimaya Gazeta", pointed out that "the scenario of the transformation of southern Syria into a battlefield will become closer to implementation in 2021", and pointed out that this will be "the first Israeli war in the northern regions", referring to the northern borders of the Hebrew state, adding that Israel has already begun extensive preparations for this scenario.

The newspaper relied, in its analysis, on a report issued by the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University, which included an assessment of the main threats in the new year, and said that the Israeli report not only recommended preparing well for such a development, but also pointed out that the pro-Iranian forces, according to available data, it is now able to significantly increase the accuracy of its strikes on Israeli positions.

It quoted the report as saying that "Israel must remain determined to continue its active operations to weaken the axis led by Iran in order to prevent it from establishing and strengthening a military front bordering Israel." Analysts believe that "one of the important aspects of this threat is Hezbollah's attempts to obtain high-precision guided missiles, which may pose a more serious problem for Israeli air defense than the simple missiles that have been used so far."

Experts quoted by the newspaper did not rule out that the "military option" would also be on the table in the event that the new US president, Joe Biden, made a decision to return to the Iran nuclear deal.

The Russian newspaper reiterated that recent days have witnessed a continuous escalation in the attacks launched by Israel on Iranian sites in Syria, and said that the Israeli forces had launched at least three intense raids during the last ten days.

It is noteworthy that the newspaper linked this to expectations of the Israeli army indicating that Israel could be exposed to missile attacks in the near future, not only from the Gaza Strip, but also from the northwestern regions of Yemen.

No American-Iranian war ... What about an Israeli-Lebanese-Syrian war?

In its turn, the Lebanese newspaper al-Nahar said: “The Lebanese are afraid of a widespread Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Syria whose aim is to hit the accurate and inaccurate Hezbollah missiles, which are in the tens of thousands present in al-Awal areas and their factories if they were started to be manufactured in certain areas of it. Its goal is also to move from the daily bombing of Iranian weapons stores and those belonging to the "party" in the second and the military gatherings of Islamic Iran and its Lebanese ally, with the aim of forcing it to leave southern Syria, adjacent to Israel. "

Their fear increased recently after the Lebanese airspace became a way for the Israeli warplanes when it departed from its bases to target its enemies in Syria, and after it finally turned into an arena for continuous flight at low altitude and began to carry out mock raids that may be aimed at terrorizing civilians in Lebanon, and at the same time perhaps to prepare an atmosphere to strike its militarily, the aforementioned fear mixed with two contradictory Lebanese feelings.

But the desire of some Lebanese to get rid of Hezbollah’s control and perhaps its environment that is involving them. This is something that, in their view, only Israel can do, and the second is the fear of the destruction that must be inflicted on all of Lebanon and its people, making the collapse of the state definitely, and the return of the "party" to rise in the ranks of its environment despite its heavy losses and restore its strength and control over the country as happened. After the July 2006 war.

According to the newspaper, the important political parties themselves believe that the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has no interest in waging a wide war on Lebanon and Syria, especially at this stage.

Note that those who favor it are based on the latter’s need for a victory that will enable him to win the general elections after months, due to the recent dissolution of the “Knesset”, as the daily popular demonstrations in the vicinity of his headquarters demanding his resignation continue even though they are not massive, and the judiciary has not closed its serious files and is continuing in pursuit of him.

However, the political parties themselves suggest that Netanyahu will not resort to war to secure his victory, because his popular contribution to the "sky" as it is said, and the right that today represents the majority of the people of Israel calls him "the king of Israel", after his success due to his distinguished relationship with Trump in achieving achievements that were impossible At least at this speed, namely: the official recognition of Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem and its making with the West its capital, the transfer of the American embassy to it, the sponsorship of the " Century Deal " that recognizes to Israel the control and expansion of West Bank settlements, and its right to control the Jordan Valley for security reasons, and the recognition that the Golan is The Syrian is an Israeli land, and by opening the path to normalizing Israel's relations with its Arab enemies.

Among the reasons for Netanyahu's widespread popularity is the success of Israel during his "era" in reaching a vaccine for "Covid 19."

'Snake hunting explodes GNA struggles'

Regarding the Libyan issue, Al-Arab newspaper said: “The announcement of the Minister of Interior clashed with GNA”, the face of Islamists in the country, Fathi Bashagha about a security operation to fight organized crime and human smugglers with the refusal of the Ministry of Defense led by Salah El-Din al-Namroush, who is considered an arm Ankara Military is currently in Libya. "

Observers believe that the "Snake Hunting" operation launched by Bashagha, which he claimed came because of the security imbalance left by the army attack led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, in 2019 to control the capital, Tripoli, threatens to limit the influence of the militias in Tripoli, as well as Zawiya and Zintan.

The Ministry of Defense in the "Government of National Accord" said in a statement on Sunday evening that there had been no prior coordination with it or informing it about the security operation launched by Bashagha.

There are concerns that the security operation launched by Bashagha, who said it is aimed at fighting organized crime, people smugglers and fuel traffickers, will fuel conflicts between militias and forces in western Libya.

The "snake hunting" operation is also facing opposition from the commander of the joint operations room, Osama al-Juwaili, which threatens to explode the situation in the western region, especially as this operation comes at a time when the financial and political influence struggle shakes the pillars of the GNA headed by Fayez al-Sarraj.

Some militias, such as the militias in Tripoli, Zintan and Zawiya, fear that this process will reduce their influence.

Observers expect that the Misrata militias will support this process in preparation for weakening the rest of the military formations that compete with it in the west of the country, especially since Misurata, from which Bashagha comes from, has an important military, political and economic power.
