Turkish Defense Minister arrives in Tripoli, amid accusation of mobilizing

Amid rising tensions between the Libyan National Army and armed groups affiliated with the Libyan Government of National Accord, and accusations exchanged between the two sides of military mobilization, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar arrived in Tripoli.

And Agence France-Presse reported that Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar arrived today in Tripoli, accompanied by senior military officers, to "inspect" the Turkish army in this country plagued by war.

The visit, which was not previously announced, came after the commander of the Libyan army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, called on his fighters to "eject" the Turkish forces from the country, at a time when the army was talking about mobilizations for the Government of National Accord to launch attacks on the front lines.

And local media indicated that Akar would visit the Military College in the Al-Hadba area to attend a military ceremony.

At a time of heightened Libyan-Libyan tension, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced, on Friday, that its forces had provided military training to the forces of the Government of National Accord, and two Turkish A-400 military cargo planes, coming from a base in Ankara, at the bases of Misurata and al-Wattia.
