Member of LU: HRO's silence is more terrible than what Turkey commits against detainees

Since the 27th of last November, many political prisoners in Bakûr (Norther Kurdistan or Turkey's Kurdish majority southeast) and Turkey have announced a hunger strike campaign to end the tight isolation on leader Abdullah Ocalan, and to protest the crimes of the Turkish authorities inside the prisons.

The hunger strike campaign continues, amid reactions against the crime of Turkey against the detainees, and popular support for the resistance they wage inside prisons in Bakúr.

"According to international laws, the Turkish state is guilty."

A member of the Lawyers Union in the Jazira region, Muhammad Amin Al-Nuaimi, indicated that a hunger strike is taken by prisoners when an arbitrary and persecuted policy that violates their rights is imposed by the authorities, and said: “The strike is a reaction and a protest against the injustice of the Turkish authorities, and their strict isolation against the leader. Abdullah Ocalan".

Al-Nuaimi affirmed: “The arrest of politicians and opinion-holders is unlawful, and a crime according to international laws. Either from a political or an epistemological point of view. "

In his speech, Al-Nuaimi touched on the arbitrary policy against the leader Abdullah Ocalan since the beginning of his capture, and said: “By what right have the Turkish authorities practiced an authoritarian policy against the leader Abdullah Ocalan, by tightening the screws on him?, The leader has not committed any sin against humanity? He is the owner of a democratic philosophy and thought, and his project serves the persecuted peoples.

Al-Nuaimi noted that it is the right of the hunger striker at the beginning of his protest and the decision to go on hunger strike to be questioned by the authorities about the reasons behind his strike, and to find out his case.

Al-Nuaimi stressed that according to international laws, the Turkish state is guilty, and this is known.

Al-Nuaimi held human rights organizations and Amnesty International responsible for the Turkish authorities' continued perpetration of authoritarian practices against political prisoners and the leader, Abdullah Ocalan, and said: “The worst of what the Turkish authorities do is the silence of human rights organizations and Amnesty International regarding Turkey's policy against political detainees.”

'If the organizations played their role, many political detainees would not have been martyred in Turkish prisons.'

Al-Nuaimi called on human rights organizations and Amnesty International to abandon their silence, "documenting the crimes of the Turkish authorities against prisoners and holding them accountable in international courts, and working to establish the fate of political detainees through their trial in a transparent court far from politics, aiming to achieve justice and protect human rights." If these organizations played their effective role in putting an end to Turkey's violations, many political detainees would not have been martyred in Turkish prisons as a result of the hunger strike.

Several Kurdish political prisoners were martyred, following the resistance to the hunger strike, without the human rights organizations showing any position.
