2020 witnessed PDK's overt complicity with the Turkish occupation, by validating the occupation attacks against the Kurdish people.

Serêkaniyê and Gire Spî attacks

In 2020, PDK (Kurdistan Democratic Party ) justified the Turkish occupation of the cities of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî (Tel Abyad) after the Turkish attacks on October 9, 2019. then Prime Minister of Başur Kurdistan, (Northern Iraq Kurds-populated regions), Nechirvan Barzani, justified its occupation of the two cities, as he said in an interview with the American Monitor: "Our advice in the past, present, and future is that the Syrian Kurds find a way to reach an agreement with the regime, as I told them repeatedly to cut off their ties with the Qandil-based PKK."

In this context, journalist Badran Penaber said in a statement to ANHA's News Agency, that all statements of the Barzani-led PDK, serve the Turkish occupation state that denies the existence of the Kurdish people, and said: “Their statements are 100 percent harmonious, and everything that is translated on the ground. " 

Zine Warti and Masrour Barzani's statements

After the PDK's build-up in Zine Warti and the Right to Self-Defense areas ( PKK's zones of struggle against Turkey since 1980's in the mountainous areas between Iraq , Iran and Turkey ) to hinder the PKK fighters (Kurdistan Workers' Party), Masrour Barzani said on April 17, 2020: “It is necessary to make clear Zine Warte escalation to people by irresponsible people in the beginning, the measures to control the borders of the region were due to the Coronavirus, and some smugglers' attempts to break the sanitary measures ...!

After the arrival of the PDK's Peshmerga Forces to this area in Qandil, the Turkish occupation warplanes attacked the People Defense Forces (HPG) and martyred 3 fighters, it appeared later that the PDK provided the Turkish occupation with the GPS.

Commenting on this, journalist Penaber says: "The party has mobilized forces in areas that were challenging for Turkey, to disrupt the HPG forces and monitor their positions."

'attacks on Haftanin supported by PDK's elements'

On June 16, the Turkish occupation army launched a massive attack on the MEDYA (Right to Self-Defense Zones), especially the Haftanin area, in cooperation with PDK after the social media pages circulated videos showing members of the party helping the Turkish army in removing mines.

On September 4, while PDK was called upon to clarify its position on the Turkish attacks on MEDYA, a KRG delegation headed by president Nechirvan Barzani, Fawzi Hariri, Karim Shengali, Safin Dizaiye and Falah Mustafa, visited Ankara, and met with the Turkish FM, Mevlüt Çavuşolu and Turkish President Erdogan, and the two sides agreed to fight the PKK; According to a tweet by Çavuşoglu, revealing the falsehood of Nechervan's allegations, who said that the meeting dealt with the economic situation and the Coronavirus.

The results of this visit were clear on the ground on November 25, after the deployment of Masrour Barzani-affiliated Gulan Forces in the Gare and Metina area, equipped with heavy weapons. This group was stationed in the villages of the Nahli Plain in the Gare area, the surrounding area and Jumanki district, and incursion into the areas of the HPG fighters, despite warnings by the latter's leadership.

On November 2, the KDP's head, Masoud Barzani, responded to a call by member of the Leadership Committee of the PKK, Murad Karaylan, for dialogue, then observers described Barzani's response as a "declaration of war."

On November 4, the PDK's Special Forces went deep into the HPG-controlled zones, and launched an attack on their camp near the village of Bebadi, Jumanki district, thus translating Masoud Barzani's response on the ground.

In this context, Penaber says: "The Kurdish people were waiting for the PDK to denounce the Turkish attacks, but its shameful statements provided the justifications," stressing that PDK "tweets sounds as the Justice and Development Party."

'Seeking to distort the image'

On December 13, the PDK forces attacked a vehicle belonging to the HPG fighters in the vicinity of the village of Sikri in the Amadiya area in Başur Kurdistan, and the attack resulted in the injury of 3 fighters.

On the same day, the KRG' PM Masrour Barzani tried, during a telephone conversation with the US special envoy to Syria Joel Rayburn, to distort the image of the PKK by fabricating accusations, as he said: “The PKK is trying to exploit the peaceful demonstrations in the Kurdistan region and threatening regional stability, "despite the fact that the demonstrations were unpaid employees' that the Masrour Barzani government failed to provide to them.

Not only the image of the PKK was tarnished, but Masrour Barzani fabricated accusations against the SDF as well, when he claimed in the phone call that “the Syrian Democratic Forces should come out of the PKK’s domination and not allow it to exploit the aid that the forces receive from the Global Coalition.”

In this, journalist says, "What Masrour Barzani said about the PKK and the SDF is not different from what the AKP officials say."

New lies!

On December 16, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Peshmerga Serbast Lazgin announced that fighting outbroke on the border between the People's Protection Units (YPG) and Peshmerga forces in the Sahila border area, and said: "They tried to infiltrate into the Kurdistan region." The YPG denied Zakin’s allegations through a statement, and said: “What was raised about media statements about the Sahila area on the border, was a great exaggeration. What happened was a matter of weak coordination with the concerned parties of the Kurdistan region."

Zakin’s statements came following the Rojava people anger at the PDK’s mobilization along the border strip and the establishment of nearly 40 military points, which were supported by heavy weapons and armored vehicles.

Commenting on Lazgin’s statements, the journalist confirms that he was responsible for protecting Şengal in 2014, but he escaped when ISIS attacked it, so his statement is "misleading and distort the facts."

Journalist Badran Penaber concluded his speech by saying: “With what right does the Kurdistan Democrat try to distort the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, which fights for the freedom of the Kurdish people, and has stood for years in the face of the policy of extermination and denial practiced by the Turkish countries against the Kurdish people, this movement has offered thousands of martyrs and defended Şengal, Hewlêr, Kirkuk and Maxmour after the attacks of ISIS mercenaries, did the Democratic Party forget how Massoud Barzani visited the camp of the martyr Rustem Judy and praised the sacrifices of the Movement.
