Zarif said in statements to the state-run Radio and Television News Agency in Iran: "We are almost certain that there are terrorist forces in the midst of the conflict (between Armenia and Azerbaijan), and we have confirmed that this is not in anyone's interest," warning of the presence of "ISIS remnants in the Karabakh region."

Zarif added that Tehran has informed "Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey and Russia about this matter."

Earlier, Armenia had accused the Turkish government of supporting Azerbaijan by sending extremist fighters involved in the Syrian civil war.

Turkey continues to transfer batches of Syrian mercenaries to Karabakh to fight alongside Azerbaijan, which foils the international efforts to end the battles.
