Turkey, through its interventions in the affairs of the countries of the Middle East, seeks to expand its occupation and its influence in the midst of international and regional silence. Wherever a dispute occurs in any country, Turkey has a hand in it, starting with Syria, Iraq, Libya, and recently in the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The co-chair of the Syriac Union Party, Sanhrib Barsoum, explained: “We see direct Turkish interventions in the affairs of Syria, including the military operations and its occupation of a number of areas of Syria, and the implementation of measures in occupied areas such as Ras al-Ain, Afrin and even Idlib province, indicating intentions to divide Syria.”

Sanhrib Barsoum explained that the Turkish state is seeking to cut off parts of Syria, so it started the process of demographic change in the occupied areas, displacing indigenous peoples from them, and settling non-indigenous people within them, and said: “These operations are considered a war crime, and they also follow the Turkish policy by imposing Turkish currency in those areas."

Barsoum emphasized that all these policies are contrary to the United Nations resolutions related to the Syrian issue, which always affirm the unity of the Syrian land.

Barsoum called on the international community to take measures to prevent Turkish practices and end the Turkish occupation and military presence in the Syrian regions on the one hand, and on the other hand to activate a political solution that would also put an end to Turkey or any other regional state that has intentions to expand in Syria on the other hand. The account of the Syrian people, their future, and their legitimate goals.

Barsoum asserted that the Turkish interventions in Syria hinder any political solution that might take place, and stated: "For this reason, Turkey was given the space for its military intentions and to expand more and more in the Syrian regions."

Turkey is evading its internal problems

Barsoum explained that Erdogan and the Justice and Development Party have a new Ottoman project based on expansion in many regions in the Middle East, North Africa, and more recently in the Caucasus regions, noting: “This intervention, whether in Syria or Libya, and its intentions towards regional waters and direct intervention in the war of Artsakh region indicates an expansionist policy, and the realization of the new Ottoman project led by Erdogan."

Sanhrib Barsoum pointed out that Turkey, through interventions in the Middle East, is evading its internal problems, and is trying to convince the Turkish people that its policy lies in the interest of the public interest and the people of Turkey, and said: “As a result, we see several collapses and divisions within Erdogan's party, the collapse of the Turkish economy and the high living conditions, even in terms of human rights violations inside Turkey, many opposition parties fought and imprisoned them." He explained that Turkish policies are an indication of the bankruptcy of the Turkish regime and an indication of the beginning of its fall.

Sanhrib Barsoum touched on the international silence regarding the Turkish violations and said: “We did not find any legal international action that puts an end to Turkey’s policies in the region, with the exception of the recent United Nations report condemning Turkey and the factions affiliated to it, and the violations they are carrying out in the occupied Syrian areas. This report is important for the violations that are taking place, and based on this report, states must take appropriate decisions to end the Turkish presence in Syria and seek a political solution.
