Libyan politicians: Erdogan obstructs international solutions to fulfil his ambitions in Libya

Under the cover of the military agreement between the government of Tripoli and Ankara, Turkey is pursuing its military project in Libya, despite various political efforts to resolve the crisis.

Turkish military exercises were launched in the Libyan territories, early this week, in one of the military camps, east of Tripoli, and include shooting ranges with heavy weapons, driving gunboats, in addition to training on sea landings on sandy and rocky beaches.

Turkish exercises in Libya also include the use of advanced weapons, including the Turkish M60 tank.

The new exercises coincide with the continued transfer and smuggling of weapons on a weekly basis from Turkey to the Al-Wattaya air base near Tripoli and to Misrata.

This development comes as the Libyans are waiting for taking the militias apart and the expulsion of mercenaries and Turks from Libya, according to international and regional efforts and calls.

"Trying to be alone with the Libyan cake"

On this, the Libyan academic and researcher, Dr. Gabriel Al-Obaidi, said, in an interview with Hawar News Agency: “Turkey is still playing the role of saboteur and is betting on the role of the Brotherhood in its expansion project, and it is now trying to blackmail the parties that seek to calm in order to gain more interests.”

Al-Obaidi pointed out, "Turkey, which was trying to isolate itself with the Libyan cake and plundering oil, is afraid that it will leave the Libyan scene secretly after the major powers have become close in vision about solving the Libyan crisis."

The Libyan academic continued: "I believe that Turkey will emerge from the Libyan scene, even without hidden nostalgia, and it will be the only loser because of Erdogan's absurd adventures."

"Erdogan will not go out with politics"

The Libyan political analyst Radwan Al-Fitouri agreed with al-Obaidi, who said that Turkey is keen on the continuation of the Libyan crisis, because it realizes that the establishment and stability of the Libyan state ends its presence in the Libyan West.

Al-Fitouri explained to Hawar News Agency that Turkey is preparing to ensure its presence for decades in Libya, and that is why it has carried out complete maintenance of the Al-Wataya base, expansions and construction of underground warehouses and tunnels.

The Libyan political analyst pointed out that Turkey controls the port of Tripoli and the port of Misurata, and signed an agreement with Fayez al-Sarraj to sell Libya by land, sea and air, noting that “the Turks are planning to stay in Libya because it is their source of livelihood and a source of influence, in an attempt to establish their alleged Ottoman caliphate.”

Al-Fitouri pointed out that, "Erdogan can never leave Libya with politics without pressure, as he strikes all the United Nations statements and international appeals against the wall regarding Libya, and we have seen how the European Union has repeatedly appealed to him and he will not listen to anyone and pressure the Union and threaten him with the illegal immigration paper."
