Mother Aqeedah ... symbol of resistance, struggle for dignity

Mother Aqeedah Ali Osman was born in 1966 in Girkê Legê. She got to know the Kurdistan Freedom Movement in the eighties, fighting in its ranks as a national, feminist and political activist for the marginalized and denied Kurdish Cause by the world, at the forefront of the Turkish state.

She was at the forefront of fighting the Turkish occupation and authoritarian regimes as a result she was arrested by the Syrian government security agencies and imprisoned twice.

Despite this, she did not give up a belief and pledged to struggle against the Turkish occupation and authoritarian regimes and the liberation of women from the restrictions of society.

She put on black until leader Ocalan could gain "freedom."

She was distinguished by her sociable character and her love for Kurds and Arabs. She assumed administrative duties at the Kongra Star in order to organize women under the yoke of an authoritarian male mentality. Later she was elected as an administrator in the reconciliation committee in Girkê Legê district, where she played key role in solving the lingering problems in society.

The mother's belief in her determination to put on black is known since the arrest of the leader Abdullah Ocalan in 1999, as she vowed to fight for the freedom of Leader Ocalan.

"We go to Serêkaniyê to support our son's resistance."

On October 9th, 2019, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries launched a military operation, on the cities of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî / Tal Abyad committing war crimes against their people.

People of the northeast Syria rejected the crimes of the occupation, and went in convoys of civilians to support the people of Serêkaniyê to confront the Turkish occupation.

In the early morning on October 13, 2019, a convoy of civilians from the suburbs of Girkê Legê, Çil Agha, Tel Koçber from the Kurds, Arabs and other components, and other areas in northeast Syria, headed to the city of Serêkaniyê for support.

The convoy was attacked by aircraft by the occupation army, killing dozens of civilians and journalists, among them was Mother Aqeedah.

Hours before her death, the mother Aqeedah said, "We are heading to Serêkaniyê to support our children's resistance against the Turkish occupation. They say that we fled, no we did not. we will resist, and everyone knows that we have never depended on America. We trust in our sons and daughters in the People and Women's Protection Units. "

It is reported that when the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries invaded Afrin canton in early 2018, civilian convoys went to support Afrin, Mother Aqeedah was among the people there.

Her son Akef Mustafa, talked about his mother’s struggle, “Before the Rojava Revolution, my mother faced constant difficulties because of the Syrian regime that was pressuring the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, but despite her poor health condition and old age, she struggled with enthusiasm and encouragement and did not give in to denial and marginalization. " he said.

"My mother continued on the line of resistance and struggle with enthusiasm and strong will among the people." He noted.

Akef Mustafa concluded his talk, '' My mother's struggle had a great influence on us, so we pledge to follow in her footsteps to liberate all oppressed peoples."

Saleh Al-Ahmad, the Co-chair of the Reconciliation Committee in Girkê Legê district, and one of the friends of the martyr's mother, Aqeedah, who was also among the Serêkaniyê convoy, said: “The martyr and our maternal friend is a belief that was within the scope of work even after the worktime, she took part in solving social issues. She was active, influential and loved by everyone.

"When the Turkish occupation launched a military operation in Serêkaniyê and our people were looted, beaten and killed, we tried to support them and go as convoys for civilians, Aqeedah foot was broken, so I told her to take a rest at home, but she insisted with great enthusiasm on going to Serêkaniyê.
