Iranian groups announce to stop targeting US presence in Iraq

Iranian-backed Iraqi groups agreed to stop their attacks on the US presence in Iraq, including the US embassy, ​​on the condition that US forces withdraw within an "acceptable time frame," according to Muhammad Mohi, a spokesman for the so-called "powerful Hezbollah Brigades, which is backed by Iran."

While the Iraqi government denied that it had negotiated with these groups with the aim of reaching a conditional truce to stop the targeting of the US embassy in Baghdad with Katyusha rockets.

Mohi said, "The truce came after the intervention of key figures and mediators to persuade these factions to stop the bombing operations until the end of the American elections ... these were the messages that these figures conveyed."

He stressed that "if (America) does not withdraw, the armed factions will resume their military activities with all the capabilities available to them."
