AANES issues CPL, approves Supervisory Authority formation

The General Council in the Autonomous Administration approved the Criminal Procedures Law and the formation of the Supervision Authority in the Autonomous Administration after its members swore an oath before the General Council, during a session held by the General Council.

Today, the General Council of the AANES held its legal session No. 30, in the meeting room of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in the city of Al-Raqqa.

The governing body of the General Council attended the meeting members of the supervision authority and the majority of the members of the General Council.

The meeting began with a minute of silence, followed by the oath of the Presidency of the Supervisory Authority, which consists of five members, and then approved the appointment of two new members of the General Council from the regions of Al-Jazeera and Deir ez-Zor after the oath to be members of the council.

A discussion of the draft CPL in the AANES went on, and its clauses were read in order to vote and ratify its 261 articles separately, and then it was fully approved, to become effective today.

The Code of Criminal Procedures consists of 261 articles divided into several chapters and provisions that contain exhaustive procedures before the investigation and prosecution authority. The tasks and functions of the public prosecution, as well as the inference procedures that include collecting information, seizing the flagrante delicto, arresting the accused, and inspection procedures, as well as investigation, trial, listening to witnesses and the verdict in absentia, the right of the accused and other measures that fall within this framework.
