Al-Assad: Turkey does not care about "constitutional committee", it aims to weaken Syrian state

Bashar al-Assad confirmed that the Damascus government’s delegation in the so-called constitutional committee meetings will not discuss issues related to the stability of Syria, indicating that his government’s delegation is being met by a party supported by Turkey that does not care about the work of the Constitutional Committee and its goal is to weaken the Syrian state.

Bashar Al-Assad said that during the meeting of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva, Damascus delegation will not discuss issues related to the stability of Syria.

In an interview with the Russian "Zvezda" channel published on Sunday, Al-Assad said, "The party supported by the Syrian government is matched by another party in the constitutional committee talks, whose formation has been determined by the Turks."

Al-Assad added that "Turkey and the countries that support it, including the United States, are not interested in the work of the constitutional committee in a constructive manner, and that its demands are aimed at weakening the Syrian state."

Al-Assad believed that "Many regions and countries on which Washington impose constitutions that push them to discord and chaos, not to stability."

"The Syrian government does not accept this approach and refuses to negotiate over issues related to the stability of Syria," Al-Assad said.
