Rights defender: kidnapping of Ocalan is illegal

The international lawyer and Yemeni human rights activist residing in New York, and the head of the Association for Human Rights and Immigration Aid in New York, which has the status of observer from the United Nations, Muhammad Ali Allaw, said: “The Turkish authorities’ arrest of the fighter Abdullah Ocalan was based on an illegal kidnapping operation carried out by the Turkish authorities blatantly and contrary to international law, and therefore all procedures for his trial are invalid, inviolable, and unfair.

In an interview with Hawar News Agency, Allaw said, "Ocalan's trial is a political par excellence for a political leader, which must guarantee him the minimum limits for a fair trial in accordance with international law, the most important of which is contacting his lawyer on the assumption that the trial is legitimate, but the truth is otherwise."

The human rights activist stressed, "In fact, the Turkish judiciary is not independent, especially during the era of the current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who made the Turkish judiciary a tool of his executive authority in following up and taking revenge on his political opponents, chief among them the Kurds and his opponents of opinion from the Turks, as in the case of the alleged coup."

He called on the international community to intervene and stop Erdogan at his own risk, and to view the Kurdish problem as a political problem and to give them their rights as an ethnic people with the right to self-determination in their lands, and to consider Ocalan a political leader and not an accused, and thus release him.

The Turkish authorities are still imposing isolation on the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and since August 7, 2019, his lawyers have been reviewing for the 107th time the Turkish authorities to submit requests to meet their client, but they have not been answered.
