Since the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries occupied the city of Serêkaniyê at the end of last year, it began with its occupation plans and demographically changing the region, by imposing the Turkish language in the city and changing civil institutions in addition to opening a border crossing between the Syrian city of Serêkaniyê and Gilan Banar.

The Turkish occupation state, through the mercenaries who run the local council in the city of Serêkaniyê, announced the opening of the border crossing on the pretext of trade at the beginning of April of this year.

The border crossing was opened in the Al-Abra neighborhood in the center of the city of Serêkaniyê, after the occupation state and its mercenaries bulldozed several houses, in addition to their control of an area owned by a civilian.

With the Turkish occupation state announcing the end of the border crossing, the leader of the Al-Hamzat mercenary faction, which is close to the Turkish occupation army, resorted to appointing one of his relatives as director of the crossing after all the applicants from the city of Serêkaniyê were rejected, which sparked a state of popular discontent in the city.

As a result, the city of Serêkaniyê witnessed demonstrations and protests by the people against the policies of the Turkish state and its mercenaries, rejecting their control over the city and its institutions, and demanding the change of members of the local council who are considered among the people who tire the Turkish state.

The protesters also demanded the exit of the mercenary factions from the city.

While " A.A", who preferred not to be named from the city of Serêkaniyê, indicated to our agency's correspondent that the Al-Hamzat mercenaries entered the city after civilians objected to their commander’s decision to appoint one of his relatives as director of the crossing, and they spread near the border crossing.

Adding that the mercenaries of Al-Hamzat force civilians to close their shops and confront the protesters with the force of arms.

Since the Turkish state and its mercenaries occupied the city of Serêkaniyê, it has witnessed a state of security chaos, in addition to armed fighting between mercenaries, kidnappings, militarization and theft of civilian property.
