European countries call for ending fighting in Libya

France, Germany and Italy called on the Libyan parties to stop the fighting, as well as on the external parties to stop any interference, in an attempt to get the political talks back on track.

“In light of the growing risks from the deteriorating situation in Libya, France, Germany and Italy call on all Libyan parties to stop the fighting immediately and without conditions," the three countries said in a statement.

The three countries also called on "external parties to end all forms of interference in Libya and to fully respect the arms embargo imposed by the UN Security Council."

Relations between France and Turkey have deteriorated in recent weeks due to the Libyan conflict.
