Turkey threatens of cutting off water to 25,000 Sarrin villagers

Sarrin town's residents in the south of Kobani canton suffered from the lack the level of water flowing into the Syrian Euphrates river, do not get enough.

Brutal practices of the Turkish occupation are still ongoing against the people of north and east Syria; Turkish occupation has launched new battle through cut the Euphrates river, which has great effect on daily needs to the villagers.

And the Turkish occupation state reduced the rate of water flowing in the Euphrates River to Syrian lands by 60% at the beginning of May, according to supervisors working on the dams existing on the river.

The co-chair of the Water Directorate in the town of Sarrin, Muhammad Khair Dergham told Hawar news agency ANHA "We are in the town of Sarrin. We suffer every year in the summer season from a decline in the water level of the Euphrates, which causes resentment and suffering to the people."

"The water cut is a result of a policy pursued by Turkey aimed at starving people in the region," Dergham said.

In the town of Sarrin, many are forced to purchase water from transport tanks, most of which come from artesian wells or at certain points from the Euphrates at high prices.

Sarrin Water Directorate is working in cooperation with the People's Municipality of Kobani to take steps that may reduce the severity of the suffering faced by the people, which is by expanding the water pumping network by providing the water pumping station with a private electricity transformer and increasing the volume of pipes that pumped the river water to the town's water pumps, which in its turn supply people of the water.
