Terrorism and public mercenariness.. Who are (Al Hamzat)?

Al-Hamzat mercenaries are a group that has been trained by the United States and Turkey since the beginnings of the Syrian crisis inside Turkish territory, to intervene through it in Syria.

Founded under the supervision of Turkish intelligence

On April 23, 2016, under the supervision of the Turkish Intelligence, 5 groups, based in Marea town in the northern countryside of Aleppo Governorate, (the Hamza Brigade, the Dhi Qar Brigade, the Raad North Brigade, the Marea Al Samoud Brigade, the Special Tasks Brigade) merged to form the Hamzat Division.

Relationship with ISIS

After the emergence of ISIS in Syria, the international coalition provided support to this group, which was receiving full support from Turkey, but stopped shortly after that, without explaining the reason, and it seems that the reason was the proximity of this group and its relations with ISIS.

In this context, a member of the Turkish Parliament for the Republican People's Party, Tor Yildiz Beechar, previously presented an interrogation in Parliament in which she asked the former Prime Minister, Ben Ali Yildirim, to answer questions about the founder of the Hamzat Division, asking: "Has Turkey made it to communicate with ISIS ?!

During the Turkish occupation of the Syrian territories in August 2016 (Al-Hamzat Division) was one of the first mercenary groups to enter Jarabulus from the Karkamish crossing with the Turkish army and occupied the city, as the leader of the mercenaries Saif Abu Bakr was among those who followed the tanks and the Turkish occupation forces and entered Jarablus in the morning.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that many of the ISIS mercenaries joined the mercenaries (Al-Hamzat Division), which announced at the end of 2017 its involvement in the mercenaries of the so-called "national army", which receives its instructions and orders directly from Turkey.

Violations and intimidation in the occupied territories

Several human rights reports spoke about the role of mercenaries, led by them (Al-Hamzat Division) in intimidating the civilians of Afrin, and about the nature of the violations taking place in the region.

Several cases of torture of women and field executions were documented, including the assassination of Kurdish politician Hevrin Khalaf by pro-Turkish mercenaries Ahrar Sharqiya, in addition to the execution of two medical team nurses on Girê Spi/ Tal Abyad road on October 12, 2019.

Making money in Libya

After their crimes in Syria, Al-Hamzat mercenaries turned to the fighting in Libya, where the German magazine Der Spiegel quoted a leader of the "Al-Hamzat" mercenaries, who comes from the Syrian city of Homs, saying, "After arriving in Libya in mid-January, I was equipped and trained with 70 Syrian men from Syria by Turkish military advisers. "

He continued, "We got weapons and wore the Turkish military uniform," pointing out that "the fighting conditions in Libya are better than Syria, where we live in air-conditioned houses."

"We get monthly salaries that are 20 times more than we had in Syria."
