Iran rejects US accusations, calls on Trump to review his behavior

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Friday that Washington cannot blame Tehran for the implications of the illegal U.S. presence in Iraq.

The ministry also indicated that the United States cannot escape forward and hold Iran the responsible for the Iraqi people's reaction to the assassination of their military commanders and fighters.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry considered that Trump must reconsider the presence and behavior of the American forces in the region, instead of implementing dangerous measures and making baseless accusations to justify his irrational actions and escape responsibility.

On Friday night, the United States carried out intense strikes on the sites of the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades of the Popular Mobilization in response to a missile attack on al-Taji camp near Baghdad, which resulted in killing two American soldiers and one British.

The United States held Iran responsible for masterminding this attack, and made clear that the U.S. strikes, which it described as "defensive and accurate," were directed against "Hezbollah Brigade installations throughout Iraq."

It added: "These strikes targeted five weapons storage facilities to significantly reduce their ability to launch future attacks against the coalition forces for the inherent determination process."
