Turkey is in weak position in face of Russia, Trump removal is over

 Arab newspapers discussed the situation in Idlib and of Russia –Turkey relations, in addition to the Iraqi crisis, and the issue of the removal of Trump.

Arab: Erdogan is losing the initiative in the east and the west

 Arab newspapers published during the past week several topics, most notably the Turkish moves and its repercussions on Syria. In this context, Al-Arab said: "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is running on a thin thread in his international relations between East and West, but his recklessness and excessive impulsiveness led him to fail to take the initiative in any file or forge strong relations with any country, which exacerbated Turkey's isolation in its regional and international environment. 

The Turkish president's recent criticisms of Russia have demonstrated a continuing volatility in Ankara's foreign policy calculations.

 Observers in Turkey, however, have seriously questioned President Erdogan's criticism of Russia over heavy shelling by Syrian regime forces backed by Russian air cover against Idlib province in northwestern Syria.

They consider that the waged battles by  Damascus-Moscow-Tehran alliance against the controlled areas of the Syrian opposition factions pro-Ankara are causing a real embarrassment to Erdogan and the AKP government in Turkey, as well as confusing all Turkish foreign policy , whether in Syria or the conflict file in the Mediterranean or so in Libya.

Observers say that "Turkey is in a vulnerable position in front of Russia because of the advanced and vital economic ties between the two countries and that the passage of the Russian gas pipeline that has made Turkey a country dependent on this geostrategic shift."

Accordingly, observers consider Erdogan's criticism of Moscow and his talk of Astana end and Sochi operations merely to distribute roles he shares with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

"Erdogan, who has already accepted pressure on the opposition to withdraw from strategic areas and hand them over to Russian and regime forces, particularly Aleppo. He will not hesitate to hand over new areas in exchange for a deal that could affect Turkey's control of  the Syrian Democratic  Forces controlled areas in eastern Syria." Specialists said. "

Erdogan does not have the luxury of opening a battle with Moscow over Syria at a time  the priority of Turkey's security is the "Kurdish threat," especially the recent security meeting between the head of the Syrian National Security Bureau, General Ali Mamlouk, and The Turkish Intelligence Service, Haqban Fidan, began. "It is preparing for a phase in which the Turkish army and the regime's army in Syria will be in direct contact if Damascus takes control of Idlib, which means that Ankara is implicitly expressing its willingness to give up Idlib in exchange for assurances from Damascus and Moscow to disable Kurds to pose a threat on Turkey."

 According to diplomatic sources, "Erdogan is not serious about entering into a confrontation with Russia at a time, his country is suffering from near isolation due to the  European-American position rejecting the Turkish role in Libya, as these forces rejected the moves of the Turkish moves that threaten the exploration of several countries in the eastern Mediterranean, particularly Cyprus and Greece."
