The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement: "Ankara hosted the negotiations of the two sides which lasted for three hours, and the two delegations included representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the army and intelligence agencies of the two countries, in addition to the special representative of the Russian President to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev. The situation in Idlib province of Syria was discussed, in addition to steps aimed at advancing the political process in Syria. In the end, it was decided to continue negotiations next week."

The meeting was accompanied by the advance of the regime forces in Idlib and Aleppo, where they took control of the strategic town of al-Eis and encircled the Turkish observation point, amid violent battles.
