He wrote in a Facebook post saying: "Ukraine is studying several possible causes of the crash of the Ukrainian international airline, including a possible missile attack, collision, engine explosion, or terrorist act.

For his part, the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelinsky, reassured his citizens that the truth behind the crash would appear "assured."

Zelinsky cut short a visit to the Sultanate of Oman and returned to Kiev, and said in a statement: A team of Ukrainian experts will go to Tehran to help with the investigation.

A Ukrainian Airlines Boeing 737 plane crashed shortly after take-off from Khomeini Airport in Tehran, killing all 176 people on board.

The Ukrainian plane crash coincided with Iran's launch of ballistic missiles at bases hosting American forces in Iraq.
