50 people were killed by suicide bombing in Mogadishu

Fifty people, including 4 Turks, were killed by a suicide booby trapped vehicle, southwest of the Somali capital, Mogadishu, according to local media.

And the local "Dalasan Radio" reported on Saturday morning that "the death toll from the suicide booby trapped vehicle in Afgoye, southwest of Mogadishu, rose to 50 people."

Meanwhile, security sources said, "Among the dead, 4 Turks are believed to be the main target of the bombing."

"Among the dead are students at Banadir University," district mayor Omar Veles said in a statement to the radio.

Police sources said that a car bomb targeted a tax office near a road intersection in the capital, Mogadishu, during the morning rush hour.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but al-Shabaab, linked to al-Qaeda, often launches similar attacks in the country.

Today's incident is the second, a few days after an explosion occurred near the presidential headquarters in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, where 10 people were killed, while 11 others were injured as a result of an attack by the Somali al-Shabaab movement.
